Not at all. The left would have turned it into Trump bashing minorities and would try to make it out to be Trump believes all blacks are criminals...

Trump needs to stay out of this one completely... its a no win regardless

Probably not.. they probably wont ever face the courtroom, probably a fine which will quietly be assessed, and paid..

It will be interesting to see what UCLA does in this situation since the usual response is to ban the person from the team.

All I can say is Jameis Winston. Not only did he not get banned he won the Heisman after his shoplifting incident. They will sit out a couple games and it will all be forgotten. If Liangelo Ball got kicked of the team his younger brother Lamelo Ball would de-commit. Not happening.

What happens now to LiAngelo Ball, 2 other UCLA basketball players arrested in China? – Daily News

“Whatever the legal issues are, they are trumped by the politics,†Stanley Rosen, a professor of political science at USC specializing in Chinese politics and society, wrote in an email. “China does not want anything to detract from the warm welcome they have planned for the American president, so they will solve this problem as quickly as possible, which would include having the young men leave the country — after a suitable apology — as quickly as possible.â€

well well, it seems the UCLA team has left china and headed home, WITHOUT the three players accused of shoplifting;

i think regardless of what happens from here, you can bet these guys are going to be dropped from the team.

If the colleges quit spoiling these players, they would not think they can get by with anything. I hope they do a short sentence. Maybe others will learn from it.

It happens long before the colleges get a crack at repairing the damages or perpetuating the superior athletes status.. I guess the corrections system in China might get to work on these three.

a short sentence? no, they need to spend more than a few months in jail. they need more like a couple of years. then they need to come back and get rejected by the NCAA so they dont play basketball in college, but rather get an education instead.

I didn't see anything in that story about the three players being left behind in Hangzhou?

I would not bet the farm on that. Remember Winston at Florida State? Not only did he not get dropped from the team for shoplifting he won the Heisman for player of the year.

It usually takes an assault or drug charge to get suspended from a team if you are a top level recruit. Even then they may not get kicked off the team. Depends how important you are for the success of the program.

You don't understand college athletics and the money behind it.
