Over the last few years I have noticed what seemed to be the producers of TV shows trying to "teach" us as we watch their shows. Political views are presented to be good or bad all with the ability to "brain wash" millions weekly.
The last couple of week the show "Major Crimes" is doing episodes about missing teenage boys who go to a Roman Catholic School.
Now we all know about various investigations about poor or illegal management of the Church with respect to priests making illegal sexual moves so to include these crimes is easily accepted and could provide an interesting story line.
However Major Crimes has become obsessed with contempt for the Roman Catholic Church and has presented their story in a way overly anti form.
This is so noticeable it is surprising and way beyond normal TV "teaching"
It's called the free market. Television is there to sell advertising, and nothing else. Watever it takes to get eyeballs to the tube, they will run with it. The more that people watch, the higher they can charge the advertisers. If people didn't watch it, they wouldn't air it. What, you people think that the FCC Fairness Doctrine is still in force? It was eliminated by the Reagan administration in 1987 to "unleash the power of the free market" on television. Ya got what ya wanted.

It's not a management problem; it's an absolute abuse of power & deformation of the position of trust that consecrated clergy hold within the church. That makes any such incident a mortal sin - but there may be other interpretations. However, this behavior is a deal breaker for a lot of people. People leave parishes & Catholicism (& possibly religion altogether) over this kind of abuse.
TMK, there is no legal sexual move that a priest, brother, sister, deacon, nor any member of the Roman Catholic Church hierarchy could make towards anyone - Catholic or not, male or female, aged or child, & so on down the line - without breaking @ least a vow of chastity (permanent deacons get a pass - assuming that they're already married to whoever it is). As far as I know, only some of the Protestant denominations allow married clergy, & I assume that those clergy don't contract marriage with someone within their own local parish.
90%, or more of media, in any form is pure Leftist PROPAGANDA.
Turn on your radio and listen to talk show host after talk show host spew hate venom and vitriol at their fellow American all day everyday, pure rightist propaganda .Top Dog at this is Limbaugh starting at noon and for the next 3 hours programs his listeners minds to hate .
The only people who listen to AM talk radio are the elderly and the unemployed. That's why all the advertising is for adult diapers, retirement homes and buying gold.
TV and the news is nothing more then programming.
What to think, what to do and what to believe, what to buy.
TV is the new church and its a good place to find news that is full of the political future the government wants for you.
If you ever wanted a way to control the beasts of this country TV was the solution.
If this nation ever lost the internet, TV and phone access America would be burnt to the grown in about 36 hours.
I suspect you're totally wrong. TV is probably a major factor in disseminating the American Dream, especially beginning in the 1950s, not destroying it.
And, by the way, the American Dream is, like it or not, based in large part on buying things.
