But if someone else wants to hunt rabbit with a .223 that is up to them. There most likely will not be much rabbit left to eat. But that is still their choice; and what ever state regulations they are in.
People don't buy AR15's for hunting practicality, they buy them to feel like badass weekend warriors.

They want to play Rambo

That is a very racist comment. You have no idea on why someone would buy a firearm.

For me the AR-15 is a accurate, modular design firearm, I can change out parts as I need or want to; there is not much in the way of recoil. There is a large number of spare parts on the civilian market. I can customize the AR-15 as I see fit. As the rifle is right out of the box, I can make close range shots and shoot out several hundred yards with out changing anything.

It is this combination that make's the AR-15 so versatile and popular.

I am a hunter, and have used .223/5.56mm for rabbits. There is such a wide range of bullets available, you can choose what you want to be tailored for the specific game. I used a common 55 grain FMJ for rabbit, and there was virtually no meat loss. In, and out with no mess.

That is good to know: As I indicated I am not a hunter. I just like to target practice. But my stepson is a hunter he is pretty good at it. I have no issues with hunting; especially if the hunter and parties eat what the hunt.

And people who buy Mustang GTs, Camaros and Challengers are not NASCAR drivers, they buy them to pretend. And old men who buy Corvettes are not studs, they also buy them to pretend. I hear nothing about banning these, yet all often present a danger while on the roads.

That's because unlike a gun, a cars inteded purpose is not to kill or wound; but as transportation

That's all dependent on the intent of the user. Cars kill far more people every year than guns. None of my guns, including several ARs, has ever killed anyone. Am I just not using them properly?

It's not a straw man, because the argument was "need".

If you don't want an AR-15, don't get one.

Who is buying a gun for transportation?

A gun can server several purposes. If you don't want any of those purposes filled, don't buy a gun.
