They had concocted an elaborate plot, police say. Their goal? To kidnap the 17-year-old daughter of a man they believed to be wealthy, and to rob the family’s home in the process, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s office in the panhandle of northwest Florida. The four teen boys’ preparations for the attempted kidnapping on Tuesday night were extensive as well, the sheriff’s office said on Facebook: Inside the SUV they were driving, the four teens had stockpiled masks, guns, a knife, a roll of tape and latex gloves. They even put barrels on the road leading to the family’s home, police said, hoping to obstruct the teenage girl’s path to the house so she would get out of the car.
So Dad used an evil gun to protect his daughter. If some here had their way, Dad would at best have been able to call the police and wait... and wait... and pray. This is why guns are necessary - because criminals do not care about the laws or other people. And the police are not always there.

Dad should have had an AR and would be justified to have emptied several mags in the direction of the assailants.

This One Story Obliterates Any Call For Gun Controls Foisted Upon The Masses

Right, one story should obliterate any attempts to keep guns from the hands of the mentally ill, convicted violent felons, and with ALL gun controls obliterated let's sell them to any 7 year old who has saved their nickels and dimes.

No one is calling for guns to be confiscated.

The guy protected his family just fine with a gun.

Not sure how owning an AR would have improved the outcome here.

Well, if you can engage the opposing force at a greater range than he can engage you, it generally works out better.

That's the irony. Near weekly reports of mass killings rarely yield new gun legislation, yet the onesy-twosy reports 2A advocates can muster somehow OBLITERATE calls for gun control.

Pathetic.

That's why I qualified with "upon the masses". I agree on keeping arms from the crazy and criminal. The problem lies in the left's efforts to remove or limit them from the population in general.

The OP is mistaking gun control for gun abolition, and is therefore not to be taken seriously.

In spite of the sway of the media, until the reports of how defensive use of firearms exceed those of mass killings using firearms, I'm going to favor gun control regulation.

"Right, one story should obliterate any attempts to keep guns from the hands of the mentally ill, convicted violent felons"

If you tink that is what he is saying, I TRULY feel sorry for you!

And some wonder why we can't have honest, adult discussions on issues.

" Near weekly reports of mass killings"

I believe you are exaggerating a bit.

"yet the onesy-twosy reports 2A advocates can muster"

How about 1 MILLION plus times a year, according to the FBI?

And why do you think it that when a mass shooting, 4 or more killed which in itself is an exaggeration of mass , the main stream media s ALL OVER IT BUT, when a gun is used to thwart a crime like this indecent it is NEVER on national media?
