i'm pretty confident that no state has ever had 21 as the age of consent. consent age has gone up in some states since 1961, never down ( IIRC ).
I said nothing about age of consent. I was responding to those posters who were stating that a 19 year old is considered an adult. That is true today but not 1961 when it was 21.
Agree. Why continue defending the actions of Roy Moore? He can't even categorically deny the allegations anyway if you listed to his Hannity interview.
I wonder if OP is aware how long Kennedy has been dead?
And none are so vigorous about it than the US. I think you can sleep soundly at night. To say that the US tolerates rape and child abuse, SMH
Not exactly true. There is a pretty aggressive campaign to desensitize people to the idea of adults being in relationships with underage.
Not so long ago the same desensitization campaign was used with interracial and homosexual relationships, the media and hollywood played a huge part in swaying public opinion on those things, at one time, no tv network would air either of them in a positive way, nowadays we celebrate those who were first to stand up to the 'discrimination'...same thing is happening right now.
Its always been to desensitize first, then comes tolerance, then acceptance and finally celebration and apologizing for the past.

Age of Majority in most states is 18 with a few exceptions Alabama being one. I believe you are confusing that with voting age.

No, you are confusing what age of majority was in 1961, when it was 21, to now. We went through this a year or two ago when the Kennedy news first came out.
You, and others, kept saying the woman was an adult when in 1961 she was not considered so. That was why young women, and men for that matter, who were younger than 21 and came to work as interns back then were required to live in dorms with adult supervision and had a curfew. Just like most colleges were until 1973 or so.
ACCUSED behavior with a single accusation from 38 years ago with no evidence other than the accusation.
But it's not a single accusation. He already admitted to dating a 17 year old while in his 30's. His response was the response of a complete sleezeball. He said maybe I dated her (the 17 year old), if she said so, it must be true. What kind of response is that, how much has this guy gotten around, and his response of "not commonly dating teens" has creep written all over it. If one is in their 30's and is dating multiple teenagers, I'm sorry, but that is creepy and makes me question him greatly. He keeps dodging the questions, but has left the door open that he has dated multiple teenagers. Legal or not, that is creepy.

Source? I can find no reference to 18 year old majority. I reached majority before 1960 and it was 18. And this would be in DC not Alabama.
