Are you being paid by the NRA to twist the facts? What makes you think "non-ownership" is a crime?
I don't need to talk to people who have the mindset like yourself, if you just call everything a crime that you don't agree with.
What fact did I twist?
If you confiscate, forced buyback or ban my legally obtained property without due process and for crime other people committed, how is that moral, just or fair in any way?
It would have to be a pretty sizable amount because the existing $ for guns had a pathetic turnout and it was just a bunch of crap that mostly couldn't even fire. 3 Grand x 100 million is going to be a sizable bill.
Most however will turn them in. Something as simple as turning in a handgun for a $200 Target gift card will do for most. For the more stingier cases, then the government would just have to offer more money. There's going to be a price to buy your guns from you. Not ALL guns will have to be paid 3k or whatever.

If I change the law to say your legally obtained property is now illegal, how is that a crime? You do know laws can be changed...
Is it just/fair? Nope. I'll stick with the conservative's argument used to talk about taxes. Suck it up buttercup, life is never ever fair.
With 20,000 firearms related laws on the books, can you come up with 20,001 that is going to all of a sudden change things ? If one could snap their fingers and all firearms and knowledge of building them disappeared , then I think we would see a drop in violence.... until those that have a desire to kill find the next tool to do it.
I agree that people are going to want to kill. I just don't think we should make it easy for them. We make it hard to commit other crimes. Why roll out the red carpet to mass shooters? Why not ban some of the tools they use?
You can't take a pair of nail clippers on an airplane because it's considered dangerous. But you can walk into a store and buy a semi-automatic assault weapon, stick it in a bag and carry it anywhere you want. That just doesn't make sense to me.
Too bad the nail clipper manufacturers don't have an organization like the NRA to lobby for them.
if you ban the AR-15 will mass shootings stop? Let's see if you can stay on topic.
Many of them will, yes. Those that don’t will be far less deadly. If the AR 15 is going to continue to be sold the purchaser and the seller need to pay a special tax that funds both mental health and an increased background check on the purchaser.
The problem with that "logic" is that you can use it to justify anything.
Only a small percentage of people who drive a car ever drive while intoxicated.
But we could save thousands of lives every year if we just banned cars...
Or alcohol.... (wait we already tried that.....didn't work out too good did it?)
I KNOW...... let's just ban fast cars and hard liquor.......
The "assault weapons" of choice for the drunk driver!!!!
Guns only serve one purpose that is the distinction.
