WASHINGTON – People with a history of “self-mutilation,” bipolar disorder, depression and drug and alcohol abuse can now seek waivers to join the Army under an unannounced policy enacted in August, according to documents obtained by USA TODAY.
Well, if that makes it any better - I know military members who should be on crazy pills but they are afraid to even mention their disorder. They may act out one day. If they can go to a mental doctor now who can treat them, maybe that avoids possible future break downs.
There were mentally ill people drafted into the army during the Vietnam war. They just did not publicize it. There also was some physically handicapped drafted into the army at the same time.
Sad but true - I feel like more than half of all Americans are on pills. It's the new thing to diagnose everyone so they have an excuse for any unusual behavior or bad mood day. Everyone is depressed nowadays and has ADD. Weed is legal in some States.
