What do you think the U.S. has been doing for decades now? It’s a lost cause. The inner cities get some of the highest amount of funding but very little to show for it. Of course, as always the Left’s solution is to throw more money at the problem.
What do you have to say about the situation where most of the out of work coal miners who refuse to accept free re-education and relocation?
Germany is still a very homogeneous country. That means that most of the population shares the same culture and work ethic. Introduce another group in there that have a different mindset to working and that system will collapse. You cannot support a large portion of the population that refuse to do their share. Public safety nets work when it is used as that, not as lifetime of freebies like many in this country treats it as.
But where is the proof that a Mexican style government would work better in America than following what Canada, Australia, Germany, Israel, Britain etc are doing? YOU have the burden of proof on you. Not me who can point to the rest of the world, regardless of the population size or the ethnic composition of the country, and tell you that a stronger public safety net leads to less social problems, less crime and more people working. Where is the proof that a Mexican style system of even lower taxes and weaker safety net is good for America?

The point they both made is that there were some people motivated by actual desire to help the working class, but when you actually examine many people's motivations, they're driven by a desire to punish the bourgeoisie, or upper classes. It's not even that they don't care about helping people, but that the higher motivation is envy and tearing down the rich/upper class, and that envy is deliberately whipped up by people with an agenda.
The most dangerous part is that this focus on class warfare, used by Russia and China in the past, is alive and well. I think people should be aware of how those people were manipulated by pitting different groups against each other, playing on their envy, etc. because you're seeing it today with the talk of privilege, racism, sexism, etc.
Same story, just rebranded and sold in different packaging. It's a great speech, and worth watching even if it's little chunks at a time.
In terms of George Orwell or Eric Arthur Blair (his proper name), he had a miserable time at posh schools, he went to Eton College on a scholarship due to beng exceptionally bright rather than moneyed and was not treat well by his wealthy fellow pupils. Prior to this he attended an awful Prep School called St Cyprian's, with lots of corporal punishment and dicipline he writes about his childhood experiences in 'Such, Such were the Joys'.
Orwell's father was overseas in India, his job involved checking that the British Opium crop was of the required standard to export to the Chinese. Opium being India's second biggest export after tea and a major source of income for the British Empire.
So Orwell (Blair) was already bitter about the class system in relation to his childhood before he started writing.

Take Bill Gates.
He has created jobs, created opportunities for expansion and innovation, and helped people do things they never could have done to the tune of untold TRILLIONS of dollars of value.
And he only has a few billion.
That isn't fair or even.
Did Bill Gates invent the computer or the internet? Or was that done by the taxpayer taking the risks through public research institutions?
So you are such an expert to declare that industry dead? Look, as long as there is a need for fossil fuel, and there is, that industry is not dead.
lol. It’s obvious that automation has replaced the majority of positions that once existed, and it’s even more obvious that alternative energy sources have become cheaper than coal. Natural gas for instance.

That's what a lot of people seem to fail to understand. All of those other countries have much more extensive social programs because EVERYONE pays national taxes, rich and poor alike. They accomplish raising enough tax revenue to fund their programs by doing one simple thing: They tax regressively, as opposed to progressively as does the US.
