My point is we can make a profitable $150 boot. It may not be up to your standard but it's up to the standard of the person buying the $150 Chinese boot.

By all means buy them over the overseas made products, just don't think you are getting a better product because of the "American Made" stamp.
Mine was a simple argument that we can make a profitable $150 boot.

You need to stop your b.s.

If they are buying the cheaper boot anyway, we can compete.

Did you not?

Agreed. Although not "my standard", one boot is a $150 throw away, the other is one that is kept for life.
And that is another one of the problems, consumers don't mind buying throw away items.

Regardless, we went way off track. The fact is China won decades ago, and we helped them

Many do not. Many can not afford to buy the more expensive and better alternative.

If one can afford to buy $150 boots , every three years they can afford to buy a $450 pair once in their life. (as an adult)

No, many can not afford $450 dollars. A matter of fact, right now tens of thousands probably couldn't if they were hired to do a job that needed you to wear work boots. Many would be relegated to buying ones even less expensive than $150.

Many cannot, but some can.

Simply producing "me too" type of cheap products and competing with cheap labor overseas is suicide. Niche market, high quality products = key
