Just ignore the slavery part right? You seem to be able to ignore quite a few significant details about why we have gone to war. . . .

bush and co. are fascists in disguse
i love how right wingers accuse obama and hillary of being commies, fascist, bolsheviks, but they cant see how bush and co. have ripped up the constitution, used the bill of rights as toilet paper, and broke 700 constitutional laws, and abused our civil liberties , bush and co. are reminicent of the soviet style leadership

Whatever made anyone think that Cheney was a protector of our Republic? Or that he respected our Democracy? Constitutions are an annoyance to these people. After all they have to protect their scared way of Mammon and war profiteering forever.

And YOU seem to read quite a bit into things that were never implied.
I never commented on Lincoln's leadership (if you care to maybe you'll explain why he didn't free the slaves in the border states with the Emancipation Proclomation?) OR slavery. I merely speculated that we may well have been better off had the land we know as the US grown into two smaller countries, neither powerful enough to adopt the "we will makeover the world in our image" mentality. And as long as it's my speculation I'll simply add that I have no doubt slavery would have ended for the simple fact that it is morally wrong so it's existence really had no place in my speculation of two countries versus one. If you see it differently you're free to make your own speculations without corrupting mine.

I'll wrap up by noting that if all that is morally wrong has ended, we can agree that Cheney and Bush must be morally right.

And we can only hope that you're wise enough to realize just HOW BIG that IF is...................................
Cheney and Bush morally right? Are you implying they actually possess morals or just a lucky shot?

Sooooo ?
Dick Cheney's response today in an interview that asked him how he felt about the American people not supporting the war in Iraq.

I always knew the guy was a jerk (Cheney) so his remark doesn't surprise me that much. And of course he never fought in any war!

I don't think that 2 separate states is the answer either, especially when both states still use the same 2-party system they've used before.
You should also remember that nothing unites more than a common enemy, like say communism or fascism (unless of course 1 became a communist nation and the other a fascist nation; both absolute regimes).
I really believe that the answer is that America should have more political parties instead of just conservative and liberal.
It seems to me that they simply are different sides of the same coin, so this would (theoretically) all change if you had more different choices.

This administration and the the people behind it have always been more about manipulating the people rather than listening to them. The Neocons already know what's best. They really don't care what anyone else thinks.
