Of course, Apu bad, every other single stereotype on the show, no problem. The basis of the show's characters are stereotypes.
The irony being the humanity that comes through with each character allows all of us to relate, sympathize, and care for them despite being stereotypes because whatever differences we may have with them they are all human beings just like us. Hell, even Mr. Burns makes us laugh and can be a softie!

This is ridiculous. Can anything be enjoyed anymore? What stereotype? Where I live all of the convenience stores and many of the gas stations are owned and operated by either Indians or Asians. The whole family works the business and all have their shifts.
DDDmd the PC Police! When did this happen? Oh yeah, November of 2008. That seems to be about the time when we all stopped celebrating our differences and demanded to be treated as dull homogeneous emotional zombies. Sad. Abu was great.
I remember when the Simpsons first started becoming popular, they were the 'family guy' of that time, it was seen as a raunchy, crude show, but somewhere around the mid to late 90s, the Simpsons became mainstream and toned it way down.
Yet those same SJWs have no problem at all with stereotyping "hicks, rednecks, white trash, hillbillies, deplorables, trump supporters, middle-aged white males, etc."
I don't think these SJW types even know what they're doing... part of me thinks they are all just going through the motions, virtue-signalling cuz, you know, that's what you're supposed to do in 2018.
People should grow a spine and stop caving in to these spoiled cry babies. The game developer Rockstar has been criticized by SJWs for their games like the Grand Theft Auto series. They get accused of racism and misogyny. Their response was to tell the SJWs to F*** off in the nicest way possible. Many of these games criticized by SJWs have been very successful. Grand Theft Auto 5 has become the best selling entertainment product in history despite the SJWs prattling that it was misogynistic and unlike all of these creators doing whatever the SJWs said, Rockstar ignored them and didn't bother doing what the PC Brigade wanted. Caving in to the demands of SJWs leads to destroying what you've worked for while not backing down and telling them to go suck an egg will lead to success. The Simpsons writers shouldn't get rid of Apu. They should write an episode that makes these SJW weenies look like the flaming nut bars they actually are.

That's when it started to become mediocre. No coincidence.
Comedy has to be on the edge. This is something I talk about all the time on here and why the Left, which used to be the hip/counterculture/anti-Man side, became the establishment and the Right became the counterculture.
The Left is seen as insufferable humorless drones...hence the NPC tag. They've earned that meme big time. Apu's exit is a prime example.
I stopped caring about the Simpsons around season 16.
