Under Mr. Trump, the OSTP staff has dropped to 45 staffers, a substantial decline from President Obama's OSTP, which had a staff of 135 people. Another difference from the Obama years -- the majority of Mr. Trump's OSTP staffers do not have a background in science. The office hasn't formally been restructured, but a White House official said the team has "naturally" streamlined over the past few months with a narrowed focus on three main issues: technology, science, and national security.

Dolts Dolts Dolts!!!!!!!!! Sick bunch are the trumpees that voted for this scum.

By the way, OSTP is Office of Science and Technology Policy.

The regression away from science and technology will be one of the most damaging outcomes of the Trump Presidency. It's not too surprising that they are going this direction though. Every repressive regime in recent history havs worked to squelch the highly educated and the highly informed. There is a simple reason for that; science flies in the face of right-wing populism. As does freedom of the press. Trump is working hard to undermine and discredit both. Taking a page right out of his Russian buddy's playbook.

Good. This is another unnecessary bureaucratic "office" that should be done away with. There is no Constitutional authority for such an office.

Yes we know that. What accomplishments does the OSTP have? It might help to make the case that it is even a necessary function of govt rather than your obvious partisan whining.
( hint: science and politics make a deadly combination)

The mission of this organization is to advise the President and the Administration on the impacts of science and technology both domestically and internationally. They are also tasked to work with the Federal agencies to develop technology policies and budgets based on sound science. This is one of the very few places in the Federal government where science and engineering stand head and shoulders with politics, and as such it should be protected at all costs. I can surely understand why Trump would not want this department as he has made it abundantly clear that he wants to backtrack the USA from STEM.
