Republicans desperately want to extend the CHIP program, but Democrats want to close the government in the name of people who came here illegally and don't think they should wait their turn like others for citizenship.

It is very, very sad that Democrats are willing to let millions of millions of America's children and hundreds of thousands of disabled children to go without health-care just so some future voters can stay inside the country.

Democrats need to visit children's hospitals and tell the parents and children that they at the back of the line when it comes to a getting medical treatment by the CHIP program. They should tell them that for the time being that people who came to country illegally and took jobs from American and drove family owned business out of business come first.

Federal funding for the program expired at the end of September of last year. States had enough money to keep it running through the rest of the year, but one would think if they were so concerned about it they wouldn't have let it expire to begin with. And they could have passed funding at any time since then. But NOW suddenly they are all concerned, when it is politically expedient to be.

Do they think they are fooling anyone?

The Republican controlled Congress could have passed a clean bill to fund CHIP anytime they really wanted to do so. They are the ones who are holding those kids hostage by tying funding to other bills that they know are controversial or unlikely to be supported by the Dems.

They can still pass CHIP funding tomorrow if they so choose. Just do it as a single issue, not tied to anything else.

Exactly. So pass it already, before the OP drowns in his great big crocodile tears.

Democrats own it if the let this shut down go through!

Most immigrants I know are all for immigration the right way which means legal immigration!

Not that many are in favor of DACA although something may needs to be done for the small group that is amongst them that can take care of themselves and is performing well. Not for the ines that will become a liability!

What happened under Obama and the Democratic House and Senate carol?

I guess you were not present to follow that!

Democrats can yell and scream but Republicans will not let the military down in favor of illegals but if it comes down to a shut down or giving DACA a path then democrats will be in for a surprise!

No one is stopping the Republicans from passing funding for this right now. Every single Democrat will vote for it. What's stopping them?

Oh, that's right, how can they use sick children as a bargaining chip if they do the decent thing here and now? Because everyone knows that's what's important to them. Certainly it's not the children.

Please Republicans....shut it down. I’m begging you. Put some more lighter fluid on that November fire.
