Black Friday should be a 6am Friday event. When they started moving it to Thanksgiving day they ruined it for me.

*Please*

When His Orangeness and the GOP get finished with this country in four years you'll be praying for Obama or someone like him to return.

The Cultists are so brainwashed they think even Thanksgiving is somehow more magical just because their Dear Leader is sitting in his office tweeting away.

Instead of watching over-paid athletes complain this year, I suggest you get some family games together to play.
Honestly, I think it has to do with your mindset. You expect it to be better, so it seems better to you.

When I look back on holidays I have particularly enjoyed, I assure you, the occupant of the White House at the time is the furthest thing from my mind. The very idea that it should be a factor seems quite strange to me.

What many seem to leave out of elevating Thanksgiving into some sort of religious event is that for a good portion (and growing) number of people in USA the day really isn't that big of a deal.

Recent or other immigrants who come to this country don't know what Thanksgiving is and some never really bother taking it up. You also have a large number of persons either with no family, estranged from family, and or otherwise don't want to be bothered.

People also are moving further and further away from *home* and don't always wish (or can afford) to travel back just for one or two days.

Even where there is "family" many women or others are just not into the orgy of cooking, baking, cleaning and so froth for one or more days that goes into having Thanksgiving. More and more are either catering or eating out; then going to a movie or whatever.

If people totally stopped shopping on these early Black Friday (read Thursday evening....) events retail stores would shut them down. While attendance is dropping for some physical retail for early or whatever BF events, that is only because online has stepped up their game and deals start pretty much by Thursday afternoon.

Seems no different to me. The retailers who were proud of being closed last year and the year before seem to be the same ones proud of being closed now.

Yeah... I cannot recall any of the 8 years Obama was in office or the 8 Bush was there, the 8 Clinton was there, the 4 Bush Sr. was there, or the 8 Reagan was there being any different because they were sitting in the Oval Office during the Thanksgiving holidays.

In fact, won't Trump be someplace OTHER than the WH for Thanksgiving? He seems to hate the place.

Agreed, with my memory going back to at least Nixon.

I wonder when we will have our first thread thanking President Trump for putting the 'Christ' back in Christmas?

Trump ought to shout out to Roy Moore for saying "Merry Christmas" in the 1977 yearbook signing.

That would be pretty funny, given that Moore is trying cast doubt on whether he actually signed it.

How wholesome.
