Taylor Swift is an apolitical pop star, and that just won't do. Here the UK's leading liberal newspaper denounces her for not denouncing Trump:
Quote:
In the year since Donald Trump was elected, the entertainment world has been largely united in its disdain for his presidency. But a notable voice has been missing from the chorus: that of Taylor Swift, the world’s biggest pop star. Her silence is striking, highlighting the parallels between the singer and the president: their adept use of social media to foster a diehard support base; their solipsism; their laser focus on the bottom line; their support among the “alt-right”.

note: I intended to add this to the original thread on criticism of Swift's apolitics but found that our helpful mods had closed it:

How sad that that is no longer allowed. To be famous, you are required to agree with them and say so.

This is hilarious. Why do people care so much what Taylor Swift thinks about politics?

I often wonder why anyone would care what ANY celebrity thinks about politics, no matter their political leaning. Like their opinion is any more valid than anyone else's, smh.

I'd prefer to watch paint dry than to care about Taylor Swift's opinion about Donald Trump.

Maybe big time Democrat Harvey Weinstein can talk some sense into TS and help her see the light.

Apparently, it is very important that all the biggest media celebrities fall in line and display correct political views, on Trump and the various hot button issues, at least the editorial board of The Guardian thinks so. Keeping quiet about politics is not an option.

I don't care for Trump but I like this even less. Leave her alone. There are a ton of public figures that make no statement either way. It's probably the smart thing to do for a public figure.

And as such the media creates the story, the media that could care less about opinions or values other than their own to make waves and profit.
