So, in the last 12 hours we find there is systemic sexual misconduct in politics, labor, education, and law enforcement. That was just sprinkled in between Franken, Rose, Conyers on the first three pages.

I think that suddenly a lot of people are realizing that talking about it has consequences for those who did it. I would not be surprised if reporting of incidents continues for a bit.
This has become a full-fledged moral panic, and the problem with moral panics is that they virtually always lead to period of ad hoc cultural fascism. Historically, moral panics have generally come from the religious right. Over the last few decades, they have largely seen their provenance in identity feminism. Whatever the source, these panics share several notable traits:
Moral panics leave little room for proportionality or differentiation. In the “MeToo” version, accusations of criminal sexual assault are tossed in with accusations of behaviors which might or might not legally constitute the civil transgression of sexual harassment. Then we add in accusations of behavior which is crude, rude and disrespectful—but which clearly doesn’t meet the legal definition of either sexual assault or sexual harassment. It’s much like suggesting that stealing a candy bar from a convenience store shelf is no different than shooting someone during the armed robbery of a liquor store.
Moral panics subjugate rational assessment to emotional outrage. There is no need to enter into a thorough, unbiased investigation of the claims because the very accusation becomes the only required evidence. Any call for the examination of additional evidence, context, potential ulterior motives, or other sides to the story brings an onslaught of righteous fury.
Moral panics usually become political tools used by individuals and groups to advance their ideologies. Third wave feminists in both the corporate media and in the social media are trotting-out the polemics learned in their gender studies classes, with tags like “patriarchy” and “toxic masculinity”, and ultimately using the alleged actions of a few men in positions of power to indict all that are male. Party politics has come into play with Republicans accusing Democrats of soliciting grievances against an Alabama Senatorial candidate and Democrats claiming that Republicans are behind accusations leveled against a sitting Minnesota senator.
Moral panics overwhelm the news-cycle, pushing out almost everything else. They become useful tools for the establishment to implement via a sycophantic corporate media that is interested in little more than the profits derived from ratings and clicks. The United States and Saudi Arabia are teaming up on genocide in Yemen, who cares; some guy touched someone’s butt during a photographic session seventeen years ago. The water in Flint is still poisonous, so what; a man aggressively pursued sex with a younger woman when they were making a movie together in 1986.
By all means, in spite of the years or even decades that have passed, we should investigate accusations of criminal sexual behavior. Individuals who feel they have a legitimate sexual harassment claim should be encouraged to bring civil suits against those they accuse. However, destroying people’s lives by publicly shaming them over nothing more than an often-vague and uninvestigated accusation of sexual impropriety, will serve no useful purpose to anyone.
In JUST a matter of weeks, see how many men have been outed for sexual misconduct and/or resigned?
NOW, just think how many cases there REALLY are across the US, those offenders not reported yet or those who tried to pay off women...or women too frightened to come forward.
THINK...how many women have suffered over the years and still do???
I am so glad to see men posting their supportive comments here on cd. You have a lot of grateful women

As rogead said, "This has become a full-fledged moral panic, and the problem with moral panics is that they virtually always lead to a period of ad hoc cultural fascism."
Yesterday an op editor said that "it's okay if innocent men are charged with sexual crimes they didn't commit because they'll know what we have felt like" like WTF!
As if having 120,000+ innocent people behind bars isn't enough. Now, these extreme feminists are looking for revenge on any man for things done to women over the centuries. Some twisted form of revenge using sick logic to justify it.
Tick on one more point for the progressive fascists.
The direction society is heading, at some point, every person will hate every other person for any "thing" even if it never affected them personally one bit. This is exactly how fascism and communism takes root.
I've said all along that these politicians are shameless hypocrites. Funny how it's mostly Dems and liberals being outted, right? I guess their smug arrogance is biting them in their arses now. The first one to cry fire is usually the one that started the fire I suppose.
You hear of many of these stories in America today which brings up a fear that many people will not help others with CPR because of touching others inappropriately now ..... Question is how many women will not get CPR because of this fear

kind of like how they still teach women to yell fire instead of help when they are being sexually assaulted...people just do not respond to cries for help, but a fire, they will all come running.
