Anyone who is, that is not a friend or relative of the bride or groom, is just sad.

In reality, it’s not any more significant than a Kardashian wedding.

There's nothing for you to understand because you have it wrong. You are thinking in terms of the very distant medieval past a few centuries ago. Things have changed.

Basically, the Royals are self-supporting, they work and pay taxes and they generate more revenue FOR their country and tax payers than any negligible funds they might get in return.

Harry is now number 7 in the line of the thrown which makes him right now kind of a nobody in the eyes of importance to the thrown.

Harry is page 6 news and so is his divorced bride!

Congrats to the couple and media hype but for royal importance they are nothing

Great Briton has always been are biggest ally. Obama didn't kiss their ass just like they didn't kiss his. It was always a mutual adoration between our countries. Putting America first while alienating our allies means we don't have any help if we have to go to war. Trump has alienated everyone....not a great idea for our country.

Revenue generated by media coverage, tourism and so forth greatly contribute to the British national purse. Fact that Prince Harry's pending marriage is generating so much interest or whatever is proof of that. Further proof can be seen in the fact DT wanted not just a state visit but extensive time with HM, the RF with press coverage for PR purposes and historical record. He could have gone to England as POTUS and not bothered about meeting the Queen (not all POTUS have done so), but there you are then.

Keep in mind that the government receives a large portion of revenue from the Crown Estates, which is more than what gets paid out to HM and the RF.

Overall total sums spent by each British ratepayer amounts to not a huge sum; around 65 pence or so according to recent numbers.

Royal family expenses: Taxpayers pay 56p each for upkeep of monarchy

Here's where the royal family gets their money - Business Insider
^^^^^ Beat me to the point, and with interesting (IMO) information to boot.

I imagine the positive effects of positive press are certainly not lost on HM as well.

How do you get seventh?

Charles, Prince of Wales

Prince William, Duke of Cambridge

Prince George of Cambridge

Princess Charlotte of Cambridge

Prince Henry of Wales

When the Duchess of Cambridge delivers another infant next year Prince Henry will drop to sixth from fifth.

Harry is 5th, and will be 6th when Kate gives birth to her third child.

I assume you are typing with auto fill-in on?......it's throne, not thrown.

Billions, I guess.

What a nightmare of a job !

Disney is no real life

Doesn't change the fact that I think Americans (and all) do care, hence this thread.

One can quibble about the exact sums, but overall yes, the British monarchy does bring in substantial revenue. https://fullfact.org/news/royal-fami...-moneys-worth/

It may not be *your* cup of tea to line up at Buckingham Palace or whatever, but plenty of others seem to have no problems.
Historic buildings won't vanish without a royal family, they're the actual money makers. 100% of their income won't go if the Royals do. Indeed it may increase (since public access of some is restricted during times of royal residency). Regardless it's impossible to separate the actual effect of the royal family, from the historic buildings and collections.

Once again the Crown Estates were ceded for debt to the people of Great Britain for failure to spend tax income on required and agreed services, and personal debts of the crown in 1760. That today they still receive a stipend from them is insane.

So in fact the claims are highly speculative to the point of complete conjecture.
