Again.......

The code talkers were marines, doubt they were offended, maybe even enjoyed Trump mimicking the essence of their code talk by referring to Pocahontas, a code word for EW.

Would not be surprised if the code talkers made Trump an honorary code talker.

"Word Association
The Navajo recruits began developing the code by taking words from their language and applying to them to implements of war. For example, the names of different birds were used to stand for different kinds of planes.
The initial code consisted of 211 vocabulary terms, which expanded to 411 over the course of the war."

As for the ceremony being in front of Andrew Jackson portrait, it could not have been more appropriate.
Know the phrase rolling over in his grave?

Jackson known as 'Indian killer' was now forced by Trump to watch as the Indians he murdered, now being honored with the highest order of recognition by the president of the US. Yes, the sound you heard was AJ rolling over in his grave.

Have concerns though, the outraged liberals here, have apoplectic seizures if they see pulp in their orange juice.

I'm sure some liberal somewhere is counting the pulp fragments in one serving size of orange juice to compare to FDA standards while having their lawyer on speed dial.

In my youth I was naïve enough to think these people would have all been stuffed and placed in museums by now. How disappointing.

Cons tone deaf as usual in making this about Sen. Warren or that the word "Pocahontas" is not disrespectful. It's about the context. No way this was appropriate in this ceremony.

Trump lacks basic self control expected of an adult, and conservatives apparently do too if this is what they defend as acceptable behavior.

More people "feeling" and "thinking" for other people.
They will never learn, that is what is turning America off to them.

Pocahontas Descendant Not Offended By Trump

I will note that some estimate that there are 100,000 descendants of Pocahontas:

Pocahontas Descendants - by David Morenus

Indeed, there appears little doubt that (especially since the Disney movie of that name) that many people making the claim are basing it upon 'family history' or other dubious connection. If I were to start a thread about descendants of the Mayflower, you would be astonished to learn that at least half of the posters on CD claim such.

Other people claiming descent from Pocahontas include two first ladies: Edith Wilson and Nancy Reagan.

So, the fact that one Trump supporter (Debbie "White Dove" Porreco, the subject of your link) maintains that she is not offended, means little in the scheme of things. No doubt, out of the 100,000+, you can find one or two that will claim offense. Would you please be sure to link to those people?

Nevertheless, we must recall that the issue is: was it offensive for Mr. Trump to refer to a member of Congress as "Pocahontas" while hosting three Navajo Code Talkers?

So a Republican descendant doesn't mind Trump using the name as an attack.

Oh well then it should be okay.

As I stated in another thread -- there are black people that don't care about others using the n word but that doesn't mean it should be used by white people -- or anybody maybe.

Lightbulb Families of Navajo Code Talkers feel disrespected by Trump

It was bad enough to hold this photo op in front of Andrew "Trail of Tears" Jackson, but to make a crack about "Pocahontas" was way over the line.

This whole deal looks like a call out to his racist base rather than any honest attempt to honor the Navajo Code Talkers.

Yep...

And it was intentional. Those Navajos didn't vote for tRump, so why should he show them any consideration? Just because those guys risked their lives in WW2?

I think tRump is good at staging these "gaffes" to appear to be just poorly timed clumsy comments. When in reality they're crafted to be purposely insulting to whatever minority group his followers are likely to hostile towards.

He's holding onto his 35%.

At least, until the economy hiccups.

How would you know who those Navajos voted for? Were you there watching them vote? You're very presumptuous aren't you.
