Who would have thought, it would be Donald J. Trump to point out people with power can get away with grabbing any woman, when and where they wish, without worrying about them throwing a fit, without ever admitting he had done it himself.
Good thing accusations without proof can bring on a defamation, slander, or libel case.
its like everyday some person comes and claims someone molested them.. I'm with you on this - you know, back then when we were growing up, (for me it was the 70's).. the rave was "sex drugs and rock n roll". it was normal and expected to play around sexually and then there are kids that are exploring out of curiosity sexual things while growing up, Now it looks like all that playing around is getting people in trouble. But that was the norm back then.
When you compare the norm of yesterday to today's norms, this is where conflict happens, same with the norms of history when having slaves was the norm, and other such things. its weird watching when people don't remember norms have changed.
I personally think some of this was normal behavior when it happened, and now it is coming back to bite people.
I'm glad I don't remember a time when butt-grabbing and sexual quid pro quo was normal behavior at work.
I believe the liberal chickens have come home to roost. I never liked Lauer, but this whole 'scandal du jour' is getting ridiculous. Now a man is fired because of a random allegation? No proof?
Men, keep your guards up at work. May be wise to have a digital recorder on you at all times when alone with a female coworker/employee. All it takes is an allegation to destroy your career.

I've heard for years that he's a real jerk, but had never heard there was any actual sexual harassment.
If Lauer can be fired this quickly, no one is safe.
I think it's probably more a case of them knowing about how he is and simply putting up with it over the years. Now that it's been made public, they took swift action to try and contain the damage. There would be no other reason to move so quickly without first stating they were investigating.

Given the egos of these men, I think they have a sense of entitlement so they do things they shouldn't be doing - which means these claims are not a result of unreasonable sensitivity but a case of the dam finally giving way.

Interestingly it was NBC along with the rest of the MSM that has tried to establish as a society norm that accusation = guilt. This was most notable in Ferguson where the network pushed that as hard as they could, only to later discover that it was all made up by the accusers.
Now it has backfired and taken one of their own before he has had his day in court.
(In Laurer's case we will never know because it's very unlikely this would be adjudicated in Brazil)
Exactly! There has been a new standard set and it's now starting to have unintended consequences. It all goes back to "clean up your own house before you judge others" or, "be careful what you wish for as you may get it"...
I am sure to avoid future legal issues, they paid him the balance of his contract. I doubt he is hurting in any way beyond his ego. Still, these guys are dropping like flies. Who's next?
