That fact that you have obviously lost or alienated family/friends/neighbor for supporting Trump is fake news? Just lie to yourself some more....
Hey, his disapproval numbers were nearly 60% on November 8, 2016. Guess what? He was still elected POTUS.

Because too many of that 60% did not vote, they won't make that mistake again.

Ah, turnout was essentially the same from 2012 (a difference of .2), and too many of the 60% didn't vote? Even buying that logic, how are Dems going to excite the working class whites who fled them in droves and inspire blacks to increase their turnout? Note, black voter turnout dropped back to historical norms with Obama not on the ticket and there is no reason to think it'll go back up to Obama levels anytime soon, which spells trouble for Dems in states like MI, OH, NC, and FL. #Resist is not a winning strategy.

Im registered independent as Im willing to entertain ideas from each side but after the last few elections its pretty clear to me that anything to the left of me is a fascist liberal who I certainly do not identify with.

I've always been IND and always will be. Years ago, I voted maybe 50/50 R/D, but in the last decade or so, I think I only voted for one R nationally - Bush II the first time around. I have voted for local R candidates but overall my votes have gone maybe 90/10 D/R now. The GOP has really drifted off of the center right area where I am most comfortable. Many Dems are much more like Rs of yesteryear. Of course, I leave at least half my ballot with no choice at all because neither candidate is worth a damn.

Former long time Republican. Switched to Democrat within past 10 years. Won't ever go back to R and won't ever vote for anyone that's a Republican.

My spouse is a registered Republican but votes Democratic.

Trump is the president because he won 100,000 some votes in the right states.

I was an indépendant in my earlier years -- voted for the candidate I liked the best. I learned that party affiliation usually means more than than an individual's smarts and personal beliefs. I usually voted for republicans anyway, so it wasn't much of a switch. I consider myself a "moderate", and it seems the extremists are in charge, whether they be democrats or republicans.

Trump is a deviant in many respects. He's not a typical republican, democrat, nor politician at all. Most POTUS' fit in one of the political parties and lead it, even if on the fringe. Trump doesn't fit either one and couldn't lead a Boy Scout Troop. Wah, wah, everybody hates me, nobody loves me. But he'll likely appoint conservative justices and reign in outlandish liberal policies. I can't stand the creep, but I voted for him, and I'd probably vote for him again... unless the dems nominate a good, moderate candidate. If they do, I will consider voting for him/her.
