Hmmm. I often wonder how the nation would react to a real situation of a declared war against an aggressive enemy like Japan was in WW2. If we were to have our nose bloodied by an attack comparable to Pearl Harbor could we do today what people did back then? No, 9/11 doesn't count because we weren't facing a threat of invasion afterwards like we were in 1941.
Our Pacific fleet was in tatters, and Japan was on the offensive. We still had our carriers, but they took a big hit at Coral Sea. The Lexington went down and Yorktown was very badly damaged leaving us ust two flat tops with the Japanese moving four carriers and a capital battle fleet on Midway.
Yorktown put into Pearl so full of holes it's a wonder she was still afloat. Testament to the grit of her crew The damage assessment for her was grim. A minimum of six months in dry dock with and engagement at Midway mere days away. The crews at Pearl, knowing full well how bad the threat heading their way was, jumped in and had her battle ready and under way in a shade over 48 hours.
She was lost at Midway but her planes delivered the death blow to the Japanese fleet counting coup on two of the four Japanese carriers. Without her aircraft we would have lost at Midway. Getting her back in the fight the way the crews did was a testament to American unity and determination.
Could something like that happen today? Would the workforce knuckle up and get the job done the way those crews did in 1941? Or would workers be insistent on working their regular shifts, taking all their scheduled breaks and meal times and such? do wonder if that "can do" mindset still exists at the level it used to.
I have wondered the same. It first hit me when assigned to Germany. Cold damp windy Dec. I thought of our soldiers walking deep in the snow to get to the Ardennes to relieve those holding at the battle of the bulge. Those holding the line with what they had with them. Their endurance and determination floored me and I had my doubts there are as many of us who could
Why not a $300+ pair of Red Wings Made in the USA? Note that "USA Made" and "Made in the USA" are not the same thing.
Because I like my boots. Not a fan of redwings styles. Plus I have had those for over 10 years now. I wear my flats or slippers most of the time.
So are to comment on Trump and his MAGA while outsourcing and hiring non Americans? Or do you want to discuss where I get my veggies or maybe my toothbrush shopping habits?
Looks like you are rolling the dice where they are made. Note that terms like "Handcrafted in the USA", "USA made" and other similar terms are not the same as "Made in the USA". To apply the "Made in the USA" label both the materials and the production has to occur in the US.

I'll be happy to comment on it. People in the USA shop with their wallet. Trump would unlikely be able to sell those shirts at the price point required to make profit if they were made in the USA so whatever jobs he is providing here in the US would go away. We need to change that and you can do your part by buying "Made in the USA" products or ones that are close as possible. The next time you are going to buy a lawn mower look at Ariens or Snapper instead of the big box store one for $150.
This by itself is not going to change things and we need legislative action to do it.

I get it YOU like redwings. I don't. I'll take my "made in the USA" double H for yard work thanks.
There are several companies that make shirts in the USA, how are they able to stay in business when Trump the great business man can't manage to do the same?
Polo shirt from the Trump collection $68.00 https://www.trumpstore.com/collectio...cro-pique-polo
Made in the USA, lower price, and they manage to make a profit.
As for lawn mowers, I have a guy that does my lawn (retired vet). I don't think that he would take kindly to me telling him which equipment he should buy.
