it's a 'muslim ban' that fails to ban travel to and from the world's most populous muslim country?
how odd.

They had to leave some reasonable doubt that this was a Muslim ban so they left out some countries responsible for terrorism like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. This is not about fighting terrorism, its about preaching to his 30% base of crazies.

What I found odd is that the original home of the 911 terrorists, and the country where OSBL was "hiding" are Not on the list.

It is not a ban, let alone a ban based on religion. Trump wanted a muslim ban, but didn't get it.

Why is it odd? Saudi Arabia has a stable government that is committed to fighting terrorists. But that doesn't mean that you will not get homegrown terrorists from there, just like you'll get homegrown terrorists from the USA; of course, given that the US is a stable country committed to fighting terrorism (and isn't supporting terrorists . . . although, Hillary tried when she wanted to arm the Syrian rebels), it would also be nonsensical for other countries to institute a similar ban on US travel. The countries on the list are either failed states or are active supporting terrorism.

Saudi Arabia is an organized country with reliable systems of identification for its citizens in place. It's my understanding that they were omitted from the list because their citizens are easily identified through records and cooperation between SA and the US, unlike countries such as Syria that have no reliable identification records, lack of cooperation between countries, and many occurrences of government theft of tools that make creating fake documentation easy.

Even before the ban, you'd never get an entry visa to US if you were from Syria and did not have identification records. As a matter of fact you won't be let into US from any country if you don't have id records. This EO does not change anything in that regard.
