Why does the right not understand that people need to speak with anonymity? It’s as if your first exposure to journalism came at the beginning of the Trump campaign.
Did anyone see the Buzzfeed article? One of the companies mentioned that is interested in the spy contract is from Whitefish MT. Ryan Zinke the Interior Secretary is from there too. Something is up, this is a tiny town of 6,500. Sorry if this sounds conspiratorial but Richard Spencer the neo Nazi "just happens" to be from Whitefish too. Weird that these monuments they want to disturb have been in the news so much too. Zinke has a hand in that.
Sounds like it's not going to go anywhere, but just that they want this is strange. Spencer could get the SS he has dreamed of.
One of the proposals would involve hiring a private company, Amyntor Group, for millions of dollars to set up a large intelligence network and run counterterrorist propaganda efforts, according to the sources. Amyntor’s officials and employees include veterans of a variety of US covert operations, ranging from the Reagan-era Iran–Contra affair to more recent actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Amyntor Group is a reclusive company headquartered in Whitefish, Montana, a town of 6,500 residents that recently gained notoriety after a company based there won, then lost, a $300 million contract to rebuild Puerto Rico’s electrical grid. There is no known relationship between the two companies.
The article says that Trump wants to hire private spy contractors who would share the information with Trump and Pompeo, but not the rest of the CIA or intelligence community. The deep state is not a thing. Trump already has private security forces, now he wants private intelligence. Why does he want, so badly, to be a third-world dictator?
That guy is such a jerk the story is believable, although impractical.
He would have to use his own money for that, congress will not allocate funds without oversight, just like any other security agency.
The executive having it's own 'secret' investigators snooping around and funded privately would be a dangerous precedent and almost certainly unconstitutional. Reminds me of Nixon's 'plumbers'.
How did he plan to pay for it, I wonder. By selling mining and drilling in the park lands out West he wants to take away from the Native Americans?
