Since Israel has the ultimate right to determine where their capital is, what did Trump think he was accomplishing? Once again I must put American interests first. Our politicians are always busy appeasing. We appease when we do trade deals, and now this.

I hope that this ill conceived move on his part doesn't come back to bite us.

I tend to agree. Have we not learned anything from the Korean crisis? Like not positioning your capital city too close to the border? Especially a border that is notoriously violent and disputed.

Bigger than that, as I predicted earlier in the thread, he has awakened Anti-American sentiment to levels we have not seen in a long time. At a time when Saudi is in possible transition, he has made a move that will call the radicals to action. We can almost be assured there will be attacks on American soil in response to this. So even if he's right about where the capital is, is it worth it? In the long run, he's probably done more to assure Israel won't be recognized than any other act.

IMO, it's a calculated, and he wants to create war. As an anti-Muslim, he can goad them into attacking, and as the Anti-Semite that he is, he has likely assured that Israel will never realize peace. All the while (and as he has stated) he can claim a bogus success on delivering a campaign promise.

he is a despicable, disgusting, human being. This is perhaps one of his worst examples yet.
I'll try to answer your query. If you are native to NC and have met transplants from NY, then you know they don't mince words, they state what's on their mind and hold nothing back. Trump is a New Yorker, rough around the edges and why he won the elections that no one expected him to do.

As to negotiations. Everything has been tried over the last 50 years and nothing has been acceptable to Palestinian leaders. The Israeli government has said enough is enough and it's going to move forward until the Palestinian leaders decide to finally sit down and negotiate. Palestinian leaders want to demand pre-conditions and Israel has already learned that does more harm than good. Palestinian leaders have chosen to play their games internationally which does nothing to bring negotiations any closer. It makes them move farther apart.

As to the ME being in war, it's always been at some type of war before the UN partition of 1948. The only thing that changed after WW1 was that tribes became countries and the European colonials left. The Arabs are still fighting and killing each other. SSDD.

There will be no halt of settlements expansions as that is paid for by citizens and not funded by governments. Fyi, when Israel gives authorization to build more buildings all that means is that court system has gone through all the claims and certified certain plats to be built on. The Israeli gov't does not blindly allow building just for the sake of it.
A permanent military base is their return, doesn't seem like much. This was not the time for symbolic gestures and should have been the last step in the peace process, no the first. They need substantial changes not some gesture, this will only make peace more difficult. This was the easy part for Trump, it doesn't address the more complicated issues.

But if they wanted symbolic gestures they could have also recognized Palestine as a state.

Idiotic move.

There will never be peace. This was just following through with legislation that past presidents were too weak to act on. Israel is our ally. They wanted it, so it was a good move.

The Ambassador to Israel is Trumps bankruptcy lawyer, good fit with Kushner with his real estate experience.

Per that article you’d have to be a gigantic blockhead not to believe that Mossad stole the Uranium from the facility and that this Shapiro guy who owned the facilty should be hanged for treason for letting them do it.

Fine, lets recognize the Gaza Strip as the State of Palestine. Israel gets to cut off all power to them and all land deliveries to them. Thus no open border with them. Egypt has built a deeper and taller wall than exists anywhere in Israel and have in installed a moat. Access to Egypt is rare. Thus no land access. They will have access to the sea only. Let's see how far they get before sending a volley of rockets into Israel. The test run didn't go too well in 2005, maybe they'll do better in 2018.

Who cares? For all we know the US gov't sent it to Israel via Fedex. Non issue for this thread.
