OK, so you have a million dollars and are able to self insure should you need expensive medical care??? Mississippi is not known as a high cost location. In fact, it is a low cost area. I suspect what you consider expensive is not what all these respondents think is expensive. We live in different worlds. High demand verse low demand. There is nothing wrong with these realities. I still want to know what you are going to do if you get a $600,000 medical bill?
I am insured. I pay for my own insurance. Every penny of it. I will choose my own deductible and cover what I wish to cover. I expect my premium will go down under the Republican plan.
Since I own everything outright and have my own money I have no deductions. Property tax does not concern me; I just write a check once a year. If I need money I sell some stock and pay tax on long term capital gains.
The question is, "Do I like the tax bill"?
And I do.
People in Silicon Valley are not my problem. I am a trust fund baby. I pay my way and I write my plane off as a business deduction which still applies.
I pay my medical expenses in cash which halves the total cost since the doctors office doesn’t have to pay anyone to process the paperwork.
Anyone living in California is an idiot.
Good for you. I wonder how this approach would work with a 2 mil. cancer treatment. I guess you could haggle to pay 1 mil cash for that...

Speaking as one who has lived in San Fransisco and San Diego, I have to agree. It makes no sense at all.
The basic deductible is going way up, I'll pay less in taxes, and I can fill out a postcard to get it all done. And on top of that I will no longer have to pay a fine if I don't have health insurance - that I can't use anyway because the deductible is $6000.
Should take 5 minutes.
People who don't like the plan are just crying snowflakes who never got over the fact that their side lost.
So you get a tax break because you too like everyone else owns a private jet/golf course and or winery?
Here’s a telling quote from political reporter Ron Brownstein.
Quote:
”This tax bill is the coalition of restoration taking aim at the coalition of transformation: in different ways it targets urban residents, blue-states, college & grad students, Millennials-all groups central to the D coalition. It's an enemies list as much as a revenue bill.”

lol, you don't really do your taxes do you? If you did you would most likely not have written such an easily debunkable post .
You just don't get it. I will buy what I need and I will pay my own bills. If you are one of those "whose-gonna-pay-for-my-healthcare" people you are wasting your time talking to me. I own my home, own my cars and have almost no deductions. If you have arranged your life so that you owe lots of money and have lots of deductions, you are a sucker. You will now pay for your mistake.
a man with no debt is most often also man who does not understand money .
