Thanks to gross economic mismanagement by this administration and its one-time right-wing lackeys in the Congress, only 48.1% of the population HAD a job to get up and go to this morning...

And your pulling this made up statistic from where, or are you counting children, disabled, and retired in on that percentage? So now you think we should remove children labor laws to increase the percentage?

The current unemployment rate is under 5.5%.. not even close to the made up figure you pulled from no where.

Yet, survey after survey has shown that more and more Americans are accepting of homosexuality and don't attend church or embrace religion. So that seems to put the social conservatives at odds with more and more Americans. More and more people are comfortable with moral ambiguity and cynicism, and sensitive to self-righteousness.

What's the real appeal to Republicans, then? Is it a macho image thing? I think that's the real appeal. Vote Republican or your male genetalia will shrivel up or you will turn into a lesbian? Maybe you'll become gay? It's purely emotional, not rational at all. If more people were rational, they'd see social conservativism for what it is... a sham that isn't in their self-interest.
Maybe because contemporary Republicans are no longer truly conservative. Republican is now merely a label for a group of people who used to be anti-war, anti-interventionist, fiscally responsible, and aspired to live up to a higher moral standard instead of merely paying lip service to it.

I don't find today's Republican Party to be appealing or even practical in any sense of the word then again, to me they resemble something more akin to national socialist than anything else. (or at least socialist with swords instead of plowshares)

Uhhhhhh . . . Saganista . . . where the heck did you come up with that figure? No disrespect intended, but . . . we don't even have 6% unemployment in this country. Please substantiate.

I imagine the only people that still support the GOP are those that own a lot of defense and oil stock, those that value a tax cut more than anything else in life, homophobes, "born-again" types and those with a limited ability to "look behind the curtain".

The percentage most likely includes children and the retired.

Hold while I tell my kids a few things.
Me: Kids, no school today
Kids: Why dad?
Me: Because saganista says that we need to put children to work.. Your going to get a job...
Kids: But dad.. I'm only 5
Me: And your lucky you didnt go to work at 4... saganista says all children must go to work now.. We MUST raise the employed levels immediately.. Our national economy depends on it.
Kids: Ok dad.. but what will I do..
Me:.. Well kids.. I hear there is a market for child prostitution.. yes its illegal but saganista says that we must raise the employment rate immediately and since its all about sex.. It must be ok.. The Democrats said so..

I just call it as I see it. Republicans today are terrible (except for Ron Paul). I still side with them though, because even though I like all the things Democrats and liberals do (rights for gays, marijuana use, right to abortions, etc), there are two important things I don't agree with them on (the economy and gun rights). Those are two things that are very important to me. I like capitalism and free market economy. They want to regulate that. I'm a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. They think throwing out guns will make peace.

Vote Ron Paul!!!

I'm pretty young, but I know that in a lot of cases way back, Republicans were the ones who were elected to end wars. They were about making peace and allies with other nations. That's not the case anymore.

Vote Ron Paul!!!
Right for gays, and spreading of aids.
Right for marijuana use, and destruction of the body.
Right to abortion, and killing people.
Economics, right to take peoples money by force and give it to those who didnt work for it.
Gun Rights, right to defend and kill others.

At least your consistant, you stand for the destruction of things constantly.

Yes, I'm exagerating but I figured since it was ok for you to do it.. So could I..

Please read my post. You are wrong, but I can understand why you have come to this conclusion.
