PHILADELPHIA, Pennsylvania (AP) -- A Philadelphia agency has ruled that English-only signs at a famous cheese steak shop are not discriminatory.
The Commission on Human Relations says in its Wednesday ruling that the signs at Geno's Steaks do not violate the city's Fair Practices Ordinance.

Well, I see by the number of your posts versus the number of my posts, in about the same period of time, that you really need to get out into the world more often. The purpose of my "cheese steak" story thread is that the City of Philadelphia is a heavily minority populated city that is controlled by the Democratic party. For a Democratically controlled city to permit an "English only" sign in a lowly cheese steak shop is news in its own right. The City of Philadelphia has the most languages spoken behind New York City and Los Angeles. Now do you understand the significance of my post?

Hell; anymore I think it will be the Democrats who will wind up cleaning up the Republican legacy of de facto unrestricted illegal immigration. Remember both houses of Congress and the White House were controlled by the GOP from 2001-06. I am a registered Republican, BTW.

Our governor here in Arizona, Janet Napolitano, is a Democrat.

IMO, I don't see the Democrats cleaning up anything. The only difference between the Dems and the Reps is a donkey and an elephant. They all drink out of the same trough of corrupt politics and power basses. IMO, our biggest political shortcoming in the US is the lack of a major 3rd party to balance out the two de facto power structures. The Dems and Reps are separated by the color of their respectively controlled states.

I'm a registered Independent, what choices do I have? In the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, come primary on 04-22, I can vote for..., no candidates. PA has a closed primary system to go together with the closed minds of the majority of its citizens, IMO. The Dems and the Reps will never permit a major third party to challenge their power structures, at least not in my life time.

Your point is again? No one cares about a philly cheese steak shop.

We had a discussion about this topic a few months ago. I'm glad Geno's won this issue, sends more business to Pat's King of Steaks!

Honestly though, who cares? Geno is a typical Philly guy, will do anything to get publicity, especially if it is for free. Philly is one of the most polarized big cities in the country, and has been for my entire life (I'm Philly born and raised). Fighting with each other is how the folks entertain themselves, and it is the Philly exercise program.

I applauded when I saw this decision - there may be some sanity left in the world.

"Political Correctness" is crap!
