you millenials and GenXer's are going to have to step up your game. Us boomers have 6 figure government pensions, Medicare and Social Security and you need to continue to fund them for all of us.

Once were gone you should cut back so you can have a piece of what we leave for you. With my supplemental insurance and Medicare I don't pay a dime for healthcare. That won't be available to you guys unless you raise the age to 70 or so and increase premiums. I retired at 55, it's been great. Thems the breaks, you were born to late to ride the gravy train.

House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Wednesday said House Republicans will aim to cut spending on Medicare, Medicaid and welfare programs next year as a way to trim the federal deficit.

“We’re going to have to get back next year at entitlement reform, which is how you tackle the debt and the deficit,” Ryan said during an interview on Ross Kaminsky's talk radio show.

Health-care entitlements such as Medicare and Medicaid “are the big drivers of debt,” Ryan said, “so we spend more time on the health care entitlements, because that's really where the problem lies, fiscally speaking."

Ryan said he’s been speaking privately with President Trump, who is beginning to warm to the idea of slowing the spending growth in entitlements
.

But billionaires and investment banks needed tax cuts, right?
and that would be a good thing for them to cut the fraud that is constantly happening in medicare

100 billion in FRAUD, WASTE, and ABUSE in medicare out of a 700 billion budget

1/7th of the budget is wasted on fraud

in 1965 they said medicare would only cost 12 billion by 1990, it cost 3 billion to implement it in 1966
in 1990 medicare cost 107 billion
in 2000 medicare was 216 billion
in 2008 medicare was 456 billion
in 2016 medicare was 691 billion

what is even more interesting is what the predicted outlays will be in the future
in 2016 medicare was 691 billion
prediction for 2020....963 billion
prediction for 2026....1.383 Trillion

lets now add in Medicaid
Medicaid:
2000.....117 billion
2008.....201 billion
2016.....368 billion

actual Medicaid 2016.....368 billion
prediction for 2020....450 billion
prediction for 2026....616 Billion

so the prediction is medicare and Medicaid is expected to be over 2 trillion dollars is less than 9 years
that's just the GOVERNMENT costs of Medicare and Medicaid... and medicare/Medicaid covers less than 1/4 of our population.. on top of that you have the VA..and then what the PEOPLE are already paying for private insurance....do you really think multiplying the cost of medicare by 5 to cover 325 million people is so smart do you think the taxpayers can afford an additional 5-7 trillion dollars annually....where do you think the MAGIC MONEY is going to appear from

SS is is 1.6 trillion in deficit

2011 started the decline...every year since Social Security has collect at least $45 billion less in payroll taxes than it pays out in retirement, disability and survivor benefits, according to the Congressional Budget Office. .... the surplus that was, is now gone

SS NEEDS to be modified....raise the age, or something, because for most of us now, its just a hope that we will see it when we hit that age

If he does anything to Medicare, the GOP will pay dearly for it at the ballot box. Old people vote.

Do not see any sourcing for this but beyond that - what definitely does not help is giving the wealthy a huge tax cut that creates a $1.5 trillion dollar deficit. To increase the deficit by that much and then go after seniors? So very Republican. So very Paul Ryan.

Why can't the GOP party be the party of deficits and tax cuts for the rich?

Military (total) is close to 1 trillion, and that is not 15%. Also SS and medicare are paid by FICA taxes so cutting them woul be ... stealing?
