This kind of hypocrisy is exactly what I've been pointing out repeatedly on this forum.

U.S. politicians and lawmakers have zero business targeting how other countries live their lives. The American people have zero business getting upset over what other countries eat.

Lawmakers complaining that other countries eat dogs, is the pot calling the kettle black, with the way the meat industry in America tortures and brutally kills animals en masse to feed greedy American palates. And yes, pigs are smarter than dogs and are just as affectionate and loving as pets, but that doesn't seem to deter people from eating bacon and pork everyday (the same people that get upset when other countries kill dogs or dolphins/whales).

Quote:
Citing the “abhorrent” mass slaughter of millions of dogs and cats for their meat each year, including stolen pets, a key House of Representatives committee on Wednesday adopted a resolution urging nine Asian countries to outlaw the practice.

The strongly worded but nonbinding measure, which sailed through the House Foreign Affairs Committee by voice vote, calls out China, South Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos and India by name but urges “all nations” to do away with killing dogs and cats for their meat.

I agree with you completely.

They need to get their noses out of other people's business. The sheer cultural arrogance is astounding.

Our perverted congress have no business telling other counties how to live or what to eat. In fact, they should be addressing our eating culture.

The hypocrisy is certainly strong. There's a reason I don't eat meat anymore (you hinted at a few reasons in your post) - but I definitely wouldn't tell someone else what to eat. And it is a bit strange to say you "can't" eat certain meats.

It really should be meat or no meat. I obviously have made my choice.

I'll go ahead and be unpopular here; I'm completely opposed to people eating dogs and cats because I find it reprehensible and I'd love to see it banned worldwide.

I'd also love to see inhumane animal husbandry and slaughter practices aggressively prosecuted here, but that's not going to happen either.

It’s so easy for these sharks to play on the emotions of voters, especially liberals. The only reason the Democratic Party still exists.

That's because liberals have morals and a conscience, unlike Republicans.

Could be worse, could exist to put a con-man in the White House as the GOP does.
