This goes into the "technical" reason: https://www.hg.org/article.asp?id=31164 but I still say because of organized crime, the same reason they hesitate to legalize pot in some areas although I oppose that.

Given the choice of the two, I would legalize prostitution and make porn illegal as porn appears to do much more harm to individuals, couple and families.
MS13 is very heavily involved in prostitution and human trafficking.

Legalizing would not only hurt them and other organized crime groups but would also reduce illegal immigration.

Well, a woman can sell her eggs off. Hmmm, seems we have laws that are all for separating the woman from her future children.... I wonder if there is a sinister reasoning behind this.

What if you get cut off? It happens you know, and often. How many men do you think spent last night on the couch?

Probably because it's easy for the govt to tax and get its money from the businesses in the porn industry.

How much does a prostitute make in a night? How would the IRS know?

The State is not guided by logic or morality of any sort.

But by all means keep voting folks. It may work out one day.

I wouldn't say America, I would say the Religious Right is a big glob of hypocrisy. How many religious leaders constantly get caught with their proverbial pants down on a regular basis? The Religious Right has way too much power and say in this country.

Is there a federal law against prostitution? I thought only state or local laws were applied. I'd bet that if a woman put "prostitute" as being her occupation on a federal tax return, nothing would be done.

This is a pretty succinct explanation:

CNN.com - The legal line between porn and prostitution - Aug 12, 2005
Succinct but stupid.

The difference between paying for sex and paying someone to have sex is rather silly.....

If you prosecute someone for a victimless crime, then you are the one who should be arrested IMO
