Good. The drug situation in this country is out of control. Time to clean up again.

This is Sessions exerting his influence here. Trump doesn't care about this issue, but Sessions has Reefer Madness on the brain. Don't count on Sessions to not act recklessly on this issue.

Anyone who drinks alcohol and thinks weed is a national emergency is a hypocrite. Not accusing anyone of anything directly of course.

Yes, the memos will be rescinded. But that doesn't mean "crack down". I believe Trump (or his advisers) knows how big of a hot potato this issue is and hopefully won't act recklessly. From the article your cited:
Oh Sessions is a true believer on this. And they may try to force a case to SCOTUS.

Too bad they don't plan on actually doing something beneficial for the country like arresting/jailing those who hire/benefit from cheap illegal labor, the draw that brings illegals here.

What I saw about it, and it wasn't in the CNN story (I think it may have been AP), is that the various US Attorneys will have discretion on enforcement.

Yep. Anyone who has listened to Sessions over the years knows reversing the legalization trend and cracking down on users is exactly what he wants to do.

I hope he tries. It will be a spectacular failure for him and the administration, as the population is in favor of legalization by a wide margin.

Trump cares if Sessions' actions affects his approval ratings and/or chances of getting re-elected. He may not care about pot, but I have to believe there are advisers on his staff that understands this issue. I think Trump will reign Sessions in if he gets out of control. He'll do it by making Sessions redirect his energies towards prosecuting Hillary. He won't say that legal pot is OK.

Trump doesn't even oppose marijuana, but as head of the executive branch, it is his job to enforce federal laws. I can't believe people try to trash him for doing the job that he was actually elected to do. Unlike Obama.

Ever consider that this is the first step to push for federal legalization of marijuana?
