It looks like your dreams of a massive attack on the marijuana industry has again been foiled. This time, though, it isn't just an extension. This spending bill will last us until at least September 30. I sincerely hope this does not cause you too much consternation.
Um, longer than September 30th. They also wrote into the bill that there will be no budget for next year which means the last one in effect stays in effect.
Whomever crafted that Omnibust really got over on the Executive branch this time...

Yup, they did.
I think there is a tacit bipartisan agreement in Congress that this president needs some reining in.
The 2018 election is likely to see legalization on the ballot and up for a vote in multiple states, including mine. A vote to legalize marijuana has passed the Illinois Senate, if it passes the House it will be on the ballot. We will have a new Attorney General in IL. and both the D and R candidates have stated it should be legalized, and the Democrats candidate for Governor, J.B. Pritzker, has said it should be legal. Only the incumbent Governor, a Republican, is against the idea.

That is good to hear! Especially since there are still people like this around: Sessions.
No, not that Sessions. This is Pete Sessions (unrelated to AG Jeff Sessions) :
Politico ran a story this week on “Washington’s most powerful anti-pot official,” one Rep. Pete Sessions, representing much of northern Dallas County and working to thwart the legalization of that sticky green, medicinal or otherwise.
Trump's base will love this, even though a majority of Americans won't. Most conservatives, especially the older generation, view marijuana as sinful against God and as a detriment to the moral fabric of society. Therefore, we must crack down on it, forcing states that have legalized it to criminalize it again and increasing the penalty and enforcement of the laws against it.
No they won't...the older generation you're referring to are are almost all gone. The old people of today were born in the late 40's early 50's and many of them smoked pot in the 60's or take it today for medical purposes. The die hards that want it illegal are those who made a living enforcing it's illegality in the past. Making legal not only eliminates their job, it makes what they've spent their lives doing, pointless now.
