Seriously, we expect Politicians to do what's best for the common man/woman, yet how can we reasonably expect them to when they don't suffer or have the same worries? For example: For your average joe/jane just having to go to the dentist to get some much needed work done, or the hospital for a surgery can easily be disastrous. If you get sick with something or happen to need expensive meds it can easily bankrupt your average joe/jane. Yet for Politicians none of that is an issue. They could have some bad teeth and need a full set of implants, and multiple very expensive surgeries and for them it's not an issue at all, they can say "Well, this sucks, but at least I don't have to worry no matter what it costs".

How can we honestly expect them to do what's best for us when they're completely incapable of being able to empathize or sympathize with us? It really sickens me that these people even act like they care when they know full well unlike us, money and access to whatever they need will never be a problem for them, never have to worry about daycare or doing any house work since they can hire an army to do it, never be one mistake/health issue/divorce away from living on the streets having to live off dumpster diving to survive.

If it were up to me Politicians would be heavily capped on what they could earn. Say $40-50K a year max! And I don't care what their political status is; Senator, Ambassador, Mayor, President. These people don't deserve crazy amounts of wealth along with their power. Just imagine how insanely fast our **** healthcare system would change overnight if every Politician were forced to deal with the same reality as the vast majority of people do when it comes to having health problems and the possible financial repercussions of them.

How can you give someone power and expect them to give it up? We’re just another Roman Empire waiting to fall

Who else can we elect? They're the only ones who run for office.

Our system fosters and rewards corruption and abuse. And politics seems to attract narcissistic types in general.

We could probably pick better leaders by a lottery system from the general public, like being drafted.

Serve four years and then your out, back to your previous life and career.

As I've said before, most people who actually want the job are probably the last ones we should give it to.

Politicians should definitely be subjected to the same financial limitations as the common man. At very least they should not be giving themselves raises when the rest of the country is in a recession.
