I can't imagine his base likes it at all. I'm sure if Obama had done it, we would be on page 74 of negative comments already. I'm curious to see what the ultra-conservative, flat-earth, bible-thumping (unless it costs us a seat) crowd thinks....
I would think conservatives would be behind this, it harkens back to a time when America was very proud and patriotic.

I believe it probably more difficult to explore the depths than to get to the moon, but I also believe it more potentially rewarding.

But like the Sea of Tranquility and other lunar landing sites it's an extremely small piece of what's down/out there.

you know, I'm kind of glad the oceans are being left alone, relatively speaking. we'll just exploit for money anything of worth that's found.

IMO, better to leave the oceans as pristine as possible so life has another chance to regenerate after we destroy ourselves and all the flora and fauna topside.

Maybe it's just wishful thinking but I'd hope there are still people who have more curiosity about what's on the other side of the hill than about what's in it for them.

With or without exploration, the oceans are not being left as pristine as possible.

that's so very true. unfortunately, this thread topic is about space exploration, so I don't want to get off track.

the future of the human race is going to depend on colonization of other planets or moons, IMO.

I'm glad tRump made that announcement, but it remains to be seen if it really happens. tRump says a lot of things! LOL

The depressing thing about this is that we have one President who says go but the next says cancel and then the next says go again.

This yo-yo effect is very depressing.

Of course, since the one who said cancel did a terrific job of sending the engineers packing, how long will it take us to build up that knowledge base again?

Of all the things which my tax dollars pay for, this is one which provides me great interest and satisfaction.

Sadly. the Donald's reason for doing this is probably so he can carp like it was the 1970's all over again.

Bring on Space-X and Musk's efforts to get us out to Mars. THAT would be a real accomplishment!
