The reason Sally Yates was fired by President Trump was also because she refused to enforce a legal E.O. issued by the President, her boss, who is the Chief Executive Officer over all Federal Agencies. Actions have consequences. Her "activism" was just as consequential as Moore's.
Though I argued here on C-D for Moore, based on a legal assumption of innocence until proven guilty (allegations do not equal guilt), I am not entirely unhappy he lost, because it ends the turmoil and fighting that would have resulted had he won, even though I'm not happy about a Democrat winning. But Jones will have to show he is willing to work with the Republican majority and not simply vote with his Party on every issue (not one Democrat voted for Tax Reform), if he is going to keep that seat in the future. This may only be a short term victory for Democrats. We'll see. AL is very much a Red State, and this does not change that. If Jones makes AL citizens unhappy, he will be gone.
Dems would w/ the GOP for a sane tax cut that doesn't put more money in the richest 1% pockets at the expense of the deficit.
Do you really think Corporations won't be keeping that extra money and giving it their shareholders? They've all be stated thats what they will do...that won't create any jobs.
So no, Doug Jones shouldn't work w/ the party trying to destroy our country. He needs to work to stop that just like every other Democrat there.
The damage is hard to measure, what is certain is that Republicans in my state (WA) who had safe 60% + seats are panicked. They are doing everything they can to appear more moderate, they are speaking against various Trump admin cabinet members and making sure they are seen to be doing it.
They know they may well find themselves unemployed in 2018, Trump is a disaster for Republican house members.
let us see what happens in 2018. Will the Republicans lose a seat or two? Probably, as this is what happens in off year elections, just like when Obama was president. Will it mean a disaster for the party, most likely not. what are you basing your opinon on other than what you hope will happen?
The only thing that matters is the economy. if 3 years from now the economy is booming Republican chances are better than 60%. If the economy is not booming the democrats chances are better than 60%.
The next election will be about the economy. period.

republicans are likely to hold and maybe pick up seats in the senate because of which seats are up. there are more dems than republicans up for reelection. there are more dems from states that Trump won.
the house is interesting. Its likely the republicans will hold, but lose seats.
That's conventional wisdom. Democrats need to hang something around Trumps neck.
Their options are, sexual misconduct, Russia, obstruction.
on the other hand, if things are as they are now, and the economy is doing really well, they wont work
After the stunning loss in Alabama , i am starting to worry that Trump is ruining Republicans reputation. Is Trump putting the future of the right in jeopardy?
No, not at all. When Trump finishes with his second term, I feel that Pence has an excellent chance of being POTUS. The Democratic Party is still in shambles and one winning here or there is "child's play".

Trump have said, tweet, and done so much, that there are going to be powerful political ads against him and the republicans from his own words. His comments about Charlottesville, and his own voice supporting Roy Moore are going to make strong political commercials.
