Democrats elections plans for the net 20 years .. Accuse your opponent of racism-rape and hope it works.
that's really been the case for the last 30
it stopped working, so they slapped some lipstick on that pig and ran Al Franken off to regain the moral high ground. problem is the high ground they have staked out is dead center of the swamp and 2 feet below the waterline.
...........The GOP's callous treatment of the poor, elderly, middle class, minorities, and gays is starting to take its toll on the party. This is just the first few salvos in a fight that will ultimately bring the country to a place where everyone is included and treated equally. A country where the sick and elderly aren't tossed aside like garbage. You know, a country that is the antithesis of what Republicans stand for.
Nonsensical and baseless political babble. Didn't work out well for the so called War on Women, which was rejected as nonsense.
The reason Dems lose so much is that they persist on running on mythology. They always spew these talking points and never make a compelling case to back up their loud-mouthing.
Jones has a tough assignment if he wants to keep his job in 2020. No matter what he does he still needs Alabama votes in 2020.
The tax cut vote will happen before he gets to Washington, so he won't have to vote against it. That's a good thing, too, because Alabama voters only have a middle-of-the-road income and a low property tax. So most of them will benefit.
He might pull off a win in 2020 - hafta wait and see.
But even if he does, there are 25 other seats for the GOP to grab, and only 10 to lose. Minnesota, where Tim Pawlenty (2 term R Governor) is likely to run, is a good example.
you are conflating 2018 and 2020. 2018 is a tough map for Dems, no doubt about it, but that is not when Jones will be up for reelection.
2020 has 22 GOP seats and 11 Dems and will be a much easier election for Dems to maintain and possibly flip seats. But of course a presidential election will loom large that year and do a lot to drive voter turn out, which typically favors Dems - who will be EXTREMELY highly motivated if Trump manages to survive in office until then and is up for reelection.
Yday win is a due to many factors and I can't find too many that are positive for Democrats but in the end the winning is what counts and I have to give the Democrats that their way resulted in a win!
The Democrats won against hated opponent that even GOP have spoke out against and won it at at razor thin margins... that is not a good sign for future victories... Jones will lose in his next election in 2020 when a better candidate runs against him and 2018 will be another blood bath for Democrats...
Lol, already got your talking points lined up like ducks
Impressive. Do you all get the same talking points at the same time from the same places?
Love it though, Democrats are doomed because they won by a razor thin majority, Democrats are doomed because they only won big in VA and a few other states. Uh huh, sure

We don't have to make points. We just let the Republicans make our case for us by bringing attention to the draconian agenda they wish to push on the the nation. That's on record for all to see.
People have been getting a front row seat to what their true agenda entails since Trump took office. A lot of people don't like what they see.
How many minority, gay, sick, elderly people do you think they can **** off before they start turning on them? People have had enough of these filthy Republicans trying to take away their healthcare and undermining laws that protect them from dishonest business practices.
Let's be clear about one thing: yesterday's election of Doug Jones, while a major victory for Jones, was more a vote against Moore than it was a vote for Jones. Jones and Dem ideas didn't win in Alabama. Rather, Moore lost. Fair or not (and I am still opposed to mere allegations being cause to ruin someone), Moore was a highly distasteful candidate. Also, fair or not, this election victory by Jones will probably be better for the GOP long term than having Moore in the Senate. It's also good that Bannon took this hit. While I think that Bannon has a lot of value, I think he got in way too over his head in choosing to back seriously flawed candidates; seriously, backing a candidate like Moore (and sexual misconduct allegations put aside) who only barely won two statewide election as state supreme court chief justice as a republican in a state as red as Alabama was reckless. Its like the Tea Party movement. While I like the movement in many ways, the backing of candidates who would have a much harder chance of winning against a Dem vs. establishment candidates was not a wise idea.
Moving along, it'll be interesting to see how Jones votes in the Senate. Will he be Chuck Schumer's lap dog, or will he have a conservative streak in him as he tries to build support for the 2020 election?
"this election victory by Jones will probably be better for the GOP long term than having Moore in the Senate."
Exactly!
The danger for Republicans going into 2018 is apathy.
Democrats are giddy with happiness over winning one Senate seat. Oh, and a couple months ago, they won two other lesser seats.
I share their happiness. I hope the trend of the American people rejecting them hand over fist for the last ten years, continues!
Keep up the good work, Demmies!
The Dems don't need to do much but tread water as the GOP self-destructs. What we've seen so far is just the tip of the iceberg.
Consider the following:
a) the economy continues to chug along at a good pace
b) Russiagate isn't even close to setting off the fireworks that are set up backstage
c) even with a and b, tRump's numbers are abysmal and sinking
As scandal devours tRump and if the economy has a hiccup, Pubs will be swept away and traces of their existence will be erased from memory.
A clever analogy:
A year ago, the whole bowling alley was set up for tRump and the GOP to roll strike after strike. Instead, they've broken the pinsetters, plundered the cash registers, and shut off the electricity. But they're certain that public is still going come flocking through the door because the pessimism, fear and anger they're peddling are irresistible.

Yup! I got some of it backwards.
Indeed, that is a problem for the GOP. Trump just makes people insane with his comments. If the Dems put someone the table who can be trusted by the people they may pull off a victory.
But if the Tax Cut Bill works out for most people and the economy continues to roar we may see an R successor to Trump. I don't think he will run again, but I didn't think he could win this time, so there is that.
