It's clear that, barring a few holdouts in DC, there basically is just one party. We're not represented and they seem to care more about themselves and their donors and special interest buddies than they do us.

So what should we do about it?

We have close to 25 Republicans gone or leaving, and many Democrats will be imprisoned or resigning, so it's a good start.

We need prime candidates from the private sector who go into politics for the right reasons. People who have served in the military, business men, average people who want to serve and make the country better, not enrich themselves.

Looking forward to the primaries next year. I bet we will see a lot of new fresh faces, not your typical politician we have despised the last few decades.

The year 2018 will tell us what we need to know about the future of our government.

We are governed by a corrupt duopoly that is in the process of destroying the USA through gross fiscal malfeasance, idiotic wars, free trade/globalization, destruction of our industrial base, open borders/amnesty and what not.

We had a coup 54 years ago when President Kennedy was taken out. Maybe it's time for a more comprehensive coup?

We have Trump because people were fed up and he totally outclassed all other options in terms of selling snake oil to rubes. Whatever Trump’s intentions may have been, he is the head of a party that bears 50% of the responsibility for the state we find ourselves in currently. The greatest transfers of wealth in the history of the world, to the rich from the lower classes, have occurred in the last twenty years. They include the selloff of state assets in the breakup of the old Soviet Union, the Bush Tax Cuts, the Great Recession Bailout, Central Banks Asset Purchases (QE), and the soon to be realized Trump Tax Cuts. In the meantime, inflation along with interest rates have crashed from around 7% to below 2%.

Trump and company show little interest in changing the policy landscape that has benefited them and the donor class so handsomely.

Gerrymandering has left Reps more beholden to their party than their constituents. Fixing that is a start.

I don't normally think of myself as being pessimistic, but in regards to politics I certainly am! I believe that the political system, from the lowest level of local politics to the highest level of government, is corrupt to the core. While I fully support the "drain the swamp" concept, I don't believe we'll ever see it. Sadly, I say we're doomed.
