Okay so let's quantify the E-poverty and see if it got worse or better in the last 8 years, 20 years. Where is it going and what have done to get it there? Question is, should we do more of the same or change tactics?
A lot of people lost money on Solyndra including the Walton family but only one saved GM.

Scanning the article brought to mind my own encounters with people in similar circumstances.

Mental illness and cognitive impairments stand out as key factors.

Homeless people congregate in Los Angeles because it's has a great climate and is a relatively good place to live while not working (better than Mexico, or colder parts of America) If the city increased the amenities available to them, as the writer implies it should, even more homeless would flock there.

Poverty isn’t a political issue. The OP used the article in a pathetic attempt to equate poverty and Trump.

If you read the expanded reports over at the UN, the largest contributer to poverty in 50 years was Clinton’s elimination of welfare. Bush II reduced poverty with his signature tax cuts as he expanded refundable child credits and doubled the exemption. Poverty increased during Obama, but it may have been the result of the crash.

Dems have had plenty of opportunity to solve poverty. Yet here we are.

How long did Democrats run Alabama?

(Hint, until 2010, Alabama had never had the GOP control bothe the governorship and legislature. For nearly 100 years, the Democrats have almost exclusively controlled both.)

Is it your claim that Alabama was a shining jewel until 2010?

Democrats have controlled most poor southern states for a very long time.

Oh, wait, this just came to be when Trump was elected.

It is amazing the stories many on the left come up with blaming Trump and the repubs and TOTALLY IGNORED the issue when the dems were in control!

Wait, this CAN'T BE, "We are in Los Angeles," the liberal run la-la land and they tell us they CARE about the down trodden soooo much.

Their policies and programs are to help and IMPROVE EVEBODY.

And Ca is the Utopia capitol of the world.

well said guys, we must note that homelessness in america is always a problem, when republicans run the white house, but when democrats get in the white house, magically homelessness disappears virtually overnight.

The obvious solution, which the GOP makes even more obvious by attacking SALT deductions in their tax plan is for a strong federal response to the crisis of inequality, poverty and lack of health care.

In Alabama, the cut-off point for parents with children to qualify for Medicaid is $200 a month. Earn any more and you dont get anything. The lowest in the nation. Whats so great about this? Naturally, huge amounts of health care needs go unaddressed in that state.
