Heh. By 2019 this dude will be a Republican railing against abortion on the Senate floor. And he still won’t get reelected after Alabama Republicans wise up and nominate a more respectable opponent than Roy Moore next time.
Jones going to bat for Trump here is less interesting than the fact that the standard he proposes for sexual misbehavior by members of Congress is likely to become the unofficial rule on Capitol Hill. Simply put, let the people decide. Conceivably Congress could have a standard in which a member should be pressured to resign if and only if the accusations against him weren’t made public before his last election. The idea would be that if the voters weighed the evidence against him and elected him anyway then the matter is settled, as the jury has rendered its verdict. If the voters elected him before hearing any accusations against him, well, then the verdict is tainted because key evidence wasn’t presented at the election/trial. Arguably, in that case the member should step down. That would mean Trump is in the clear whereas Franken had to go.
whoa, did CNN throw him out of their studio after that?
honestly, Republicans truly dodged a bullet by Moore losing. Moore is a true bigot and extremist and would have been used to attack the Republican Party all the time. Doug Jones seems to be a Joe Manchin style moderate who will push back at the party's craziness from time to time
Sounds likes Jones is about to join the Franken brigade...
"At least four senators are urging Al Franken to reconsider resigning, including two who issued statements calling for the resignation two weeks ago and said they now feel remorse over what they feel was a rush to judgment.
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who urged Franken not to step down to begin with — at least not before he went through an Ethics Committee investigation — said the Minnesota senator was railroaded by fellow Democrats"

Have you ever watched Jake Tapper? He's not like the brainwashed bots on Fox who don't let anyone speak against Herr trump.
Dems even in liberal states like mine didn't expect him to be liberal. He's in possibly the reddest state in the country.
I'm still happy as hell he beat that bigoted pedophile. Moore is not the kind of person we need as a leader.
You will be attacking him soon enough when he doesn't toe the party line.
