I mean this has got to SCREAM that this was a state sponsored program aimed at undermining the discussion about NN. There is no way Joe Schmo Trump supporter has the know how or hardware to utilize AI to flood the discussion about NN in order to kill the vast majority of dissent.

The reason: with NN dead states can now create fake companies or use other means to pay Comcast in order to promote very specific outlets for news or to censor American opinions they find controversial. Yes, this literally opens up the door to having a foreign country censor Americans on their own soil to block dissenting opinions or to sway elections using the media in order to elect American political candidates who might have the interests of foreign countries in mind.

Meh, not that hard. Some PR company, paid second or third hand by the large carriers (Comcast and Verizon have a massive financial interest in seeing NN go away) could make this happen quite easily. There's a thriving undergrowth of "click farms" that will generate positive buzz online - it doesn't even have to be that high-tech. It's underhanded, sure - but it doesn't take a nation-state to generate a few thousand variations on a script, then farm the work out.
