Ben Carson lavishes praise on Trump within his prayer at the cabinet meeting!
Quote:
Trump's boasting lasted about 12 minutes, which was swiftly followed by a prayer by Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson.
Carson's prayer included a reference to Trump being a "courageous" president and referred to the Cabinet members as people who would "face the winds of controversy . . . to guide a better future for those who come behind us." He also thanked "the unity in Congress that presented an opportunity for our economy to expand so that we can fight the corrosive debt that has been destroying our future."
Maybe because he is getting things done at a rate they have never seen before. Let's be real... they don't have a good track record for leading when they are in power. In the past, their comfort zone was being in the minority. Maybe this is new for them.
Mr. Trump is peculiarly susceptible to praise. If one praises him, one may expect Mr. Trump to respond in a favorable manner. If you want something from Mr. Trump, first praise him. Mr. Putin has learned this lesson, as have other leaders.
As for Mr. Pence, he wants to be the next President. Mr. Pence knows that he must keep Mr. Trump's 'base', if he is to have any hope.
Obviously, we have had politicians praise prior Presidents, usually in a campaign setting. I cannot recall any prior President asking his cabinet to praise him.
We do have this NYT report of the signing of Obamacare by Mr. Obama:
While Mr. Biden did praise Mr. Obama (the fun part being off-camera), I do not recall, and the article does not note, that the participants unduly praised Mr. Obama during the signing ceremony.
I will note that President Trump has not yet signed the tax reform bill. No doubt, at the signing ceremony, Mr. Trump will again be praised, including for his penmanship.
This is getting weird. The Republicans are heaping praise on Trump reminiscent of North Koreans praising their "dear leader!"
This tax plan is one of the very few things they can point to that shows some resemblance to GOP of yesteryear, they are in a position where they are screwed either way they go. Let them genuflect to the Great Leader. The closer they get to him the less likely they will win a re-election. The party has been shattered by the fascist Right, that's been the intent of Bannon and company from day 1.
This tax cut has been decades in the making. President Trump finally got corporate taxes under control. No other President could get it done. Viva la Trump!
At some point, you've got to kick the losers to the curb.
I haven't watched this because I don't feel like vomiting today, but from what I heard it sounds like a Lil Kim style thing. What an honor to be able to praise the dear leader! All bow before the mighty trump! !
While no one can top the verbal fellating of Mike Pence - Paul Ryan really came close with 'exquisite' leadership of his Dear Leader Trump.
Exquisite! The pu**y grabber! The man who pretended he doesn't know who David Duke is! Very fine people on both sides! Mexican judge!
FYI, there is a difference between celebration of an event and slobbering praise for someone.
Oh come on. I realize you have a blinding hate for Trump, and all Republicans for that matter, but at least be honest and admit that there's not a nickel's worth of difference than what's always taken place.
