I was listening to this on NPR on the way to work-perhaps the stupidest article I've heard them run. But when your goal is to divide the country and play identity politics, looking stupid is the least of your concerns.
Did they look into what the black father's role in all of this? Doesn't the black community still have a problem with absentee fathers and a lack of them marrying the mothers of their children?
Black infant mortality could be more due to single motherhood stresses or their menfolk not being supportive enough.
Black infant mortality a real enough problem, and if the causes were accurately identified, rational steps might be taken to solve it. Blaming racism is about as helpful as blaming demons and witches.

Some if not all of the top peeps at NPR must really have a sick and deranged sense of humor. The article itself could induce many young black mothers to suffer complications during child birth. Little do they care of what damage they are doing with such blatant and provocative language designed to hurt black people more and more.
Yep-it was based on a bigoted article on NPR. At the same time, it is important to inform people of the idiotic, racist BS their tax dollars are paying for.
It's not a matter of black babies being born smaller and prematurely due to racism - it's a case of white babies being born on time and at an average plus weight because of white privilege.
But seriously, obesity, drugs, smoking, teenage births, etc. can result in premature/smaller babies. They quit looking after ruling out genetics and blamed racism because 'all black women suffer from racism.'
Wake me when we get blamed for sickle cell.
