Unlike his predecessor, Trump recognized it and has taken action. Some argue not enough yet but at least it is finally being faced.
He's declared it an emergency, but I haven't seen much evidence of concrete action. I just said in another post that he didn't cause the problem, but I don't see him doing much to fix it, either.
To be fair, the trend has been tied to the opioid crisis. I absolutely don't think we are doing enough to make sure everyone in this country gets health care, particularly those with mental illnesses or addictions, but I don't think that can be laid at the feet of any single person, or this administration. If it continues and nothing is done to address it, that may be another story.
I'm not defending Trump or the Republicans, but drug overdoses have been a growing problem for a while now.
It can be laid at the feet of a corrupt system of campaign finance which cause inequality, despair and suffering to skyrocket. A few super rich elites hold enormous power over our economic and political system. And things are about to get worse. Just look at the cheerleaders for the latest tax bill as they ask themselves; "who cares about inequality and the power of the super rich"!?
The situation will only get worse if we dont rein things in and move towards public funding of elections and massively strengthen the trade union movement to bring the political system back to the people.

Obama was president in 2015 & 2016.
Are you as critical of him, now that you know this?

This report covers Obama's last two years in office.
So glad you call his administration for exactly what it was.

Did you read both of my posts? I just said earlier that I don't think it can be blamed entirely on any single person. I do feel, though, that simply declaring it an emergency is pretty much just talk unless some action is taken, too. I don't think that is being terribly critical.
