How is that ironic? The guy just wanted to kill a large amount of people and that’s one of the most crowded places in the city.

Good point.

Mass death is mass death. Who is killed in an attack like this is irrelevant, it's equally horrible.

Right there with you.

Pier 39, yes, I avoid that unless a tourist friend wants to see it (sigh...).

However, other parts of Fisherman's Wharf (away from T-shirt central, etc.) still have much to offer, especially on a nice, sunny day. There is also a Trader Joe's market just 3 blocks from The Embarcadero.

Is this what happens when you no longer teach history in school?

Interesting how a thread on a would-be terrorist morphs into parochial moaning about how lame, or strictly for tourists Fisherman's Wharf is. You can also throw in apparent historical sagacity for good measure. Anyway, if found guilty, the alleged wannabe perpetrator is looking forward to a snug time.

There's this weird pissing contest among some people here who to prove who is the most authentic local or whatever. Any mention of Fisherman's Wharf/Pier 39 inevitably brings it out.
