Quote:
Republicans hold the advantage of a historically favorable electoral map, with more House seats than ever benefiting from Republican-friendly redistricting and a Senate landscape that puts 26 Democratic seats in play, including 10 states that Trump won in 2016, and only eight Republican seats.

But other indicators are clearly flashing GOP warning signs. Democrats have benefited from significant recruitment advantages — there are at least a half dozen former Army Rangers and Navy SEALs running as Democrats this year, for example — as Republicans struggle to convince incumbents to run for reelection.

Quote:
In private conversations, Trump has told advisers that he doesn’t think the 2018 election has to be as bad as others are predicting. He has referenced the 2002 midterms, when George W. Bush and Republicans fared better after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, these people said.

Analyses like this one show me that many Trump Republicans are vastly overstating their leader's position as a president of the people. I think it would be wise of moderate Republicans to publicly distance themselves from Trump in order to keep their seats after this year's election.

It didn't help that they were forced to give up their voter intimidation task force being lead by Chris Kobach, and that the courts have started to push back on their district boundary manipulations. I think Trump and the GOP will figure out other ways to cheat the democratic process. It will not be the bloodbath that CNN and Politico are foreshadowing.

The Post also put the brakes on a false news story regarding Roy Moore.

And...they've been around since 1877. I'm sure they made predictions regarding presidential elections which turned out to be correct over the last 140 years. Can we please stay on topic?

Hint: The topic is not Hillary Clinton.

The GOP should be alarmed. The leadership is controlled by a couple of super rich families.

Their true leanings are showing up.

Americans tend to like divided government.

I think we are most fiscally responsible when we have a Democrat President and Republican Congress.

keep hoping.

if the economy is blowing and going, republicans can hold the house and will hold the senate.

traditionally the party of the president loses 30 seats in the house. Dems need 25 to take control. Its going to be close there no matter what.

But, but, but Hillary....

Republicans are so out of touch with reality it’s frightening. That’s the consequence of building your worldview on fake news.
