In my mind the bottom line is this; if the U.N. went back to their original charter and what was envisioned when they were created I'd not have much to take issue with. The problem is they've morphed into something that's totally unrecognizable from what they were intended and created to be. In many instances they've just become a piggy bank for crooks wrapped in the cloak of ambassador to loot and pillage. The "peace keeping" missions are now only that in name and are rarely if ever successful nowadays.
Either go back to the start and begin acting as designed or disband them...

Agreed. This funding cut should be the beginning to further cuts.
Republicans have always had animus toward the United Nations. Before that they didn't like the League of Nations.
There were plenty of years in the past that we were arrears in our dues because Republicans wouldn't allocate the money. That the money was cut is less surprising than the excuse they used to cut it. The UN was never intended to be an extension of our foreign policy, it is a meeting of sovereign free nations, we can not expect to win every vote or be on the winning side every time. No nation can expect that.
Mature adults take their licks, learn from it and move on, children take their ball and go home in a huff.
Intelligent mature adults don't need another layer of government bureaucracy like the UN.
Childish adults need government bureaucrats to tell them how to live their lives.
Get totally out of the UN and then we wouldn't have to worry about their votes.

The more I think about it we should just pull out and kick them out of the country. We get nothing out of it and we have been picking up too much of the slack around the world anyways. Cut out the foreign aid bring all out troops home $49 billion yearly in foreign ad spent with borrowed money.
Given the many agencies, funding methods, and categories of aid associated with U.S. foreign assistance efforts, estimates can differ. According to the nonpartisan Congressional Research Service (CRS), which uses the broadest definition of aid [PDF], including military and security assistance, total spending was nearly $49 billion in 2015. This accounts for roughly 1.3 percent of the federal budget.
The left freaks out about the 1.5 trillion over 10 years for the tax cuts but 500 billion over 10 years in foreign aid is fine with them.

I suppose Trump can use that money to cover the costs of all his weekend golfing trips.
