The war was raging between the Germans and the British in Flanders, Belgium n 1914, a lot like the political parties are at war both here and across the U.S.. Here is what happened, maybe we can for just one day follow it's example of humanity...
“On Christmas Eve 1914, soldiers of the British, French and German armies were hunkered down in trenches on the Western Front … As night fell, the sound of German soldiers singing carols drifted across No Man’s Land, and small fir trees and lanterns appeared on the tops of their trenches. Some soldiers ventured out to meet and exchange gifts … to talk, take photographs, and even play football.”
Eventually, the men crawled out of the trenches to meet the men they’d been trying to kill just hours earlier. The official excuse was that they were burying the dead, but in reality, this was all about goodwill and the Christmas spirit.
The men exchanged badges and buttons, tobacco and sausage, all the while showing each other pictures of their families.

All sides put down their weapons and stopped fighting for one glorious night wrapped in the feeling of the season.
Merry Christmas to all, be you Left,Right,Center, or the farthest reaches of either side!
Let us all be thankful that we still have a country to feel so passionate about and
a hope that in the end the correct things will be done for the good of all who live within it's borders...
