I think the funniest assertion is that Melania is a "role model". My definition of a role model is someone who inspires younger people to do better and greater things. What has Melania inspired young women to do ..............be beautiful and you too can marry a rich, older guy who will make you his trophy, and you will be taken care of for the rest of your life ?
By contrast, Michelle Obama DID inspire young women to get an education so that they could do anything they wanted, if they tried hard enough. Hillary Clinton did the same thing, always working hard for women and girls, so that they could be independent, strong, smart, and achieve anything they wanted to do.
So, I guess the question is, do we want our young people to look up to women who are lawyers, senators, scholars, and independently successful, or do we want them to look up to a Playboy Bunny ? Not many parents want to see their little girl on a stripper pole.
y'know, all this hyper-admiration, and massive gushing of praise for, well, simple things... consider that it is possible that by putting the trumps on such a high pedestal, it will be a significant shock when they turn out not to be the almost mythical creatues that some trumpissts make the out to be. Oh, the weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth that will ensue!
Actually, no it won't. The faithful will always be faithful, point out anything that trump has done that is vulgar or just plain wrong, and they jump in here like the lemmings most are, and make excuses, deflect and simply get nasty defending him, no matter what it is. If trump is knocked off his pedestal (some of us never put him there to begin with) and they will do all in their power to put their Idol back on his pedestal, it is what they do.
Michelle is living her life with a husband who adores her while Melania is stuck with a gilded cage with a husband who doesn't care about her.
Exactly and Melania knows that her "sell by" date is fast approaching. If Trump hadn't decided to go into politics, he would most likely have literally traded her in for a new model by now. Trump's wives are nothing but arm candy and toys to him, he needs to "own" a piece of first class ***** to continually reinforce his own ego.
I never see the point in this type of thread - I remember First Ladies all the way back to Mamie Eisenhower and remember that all of them were respected and had high approval ratings. I only remember a few that were attacked by the opposing Political Parties and their Media friends.
Hillary Clinton, Barbara and Laura Bush, Michelle Obama and Melania Trump -- the difference is that Major Media only attacks the Republican First Ladies (Barbara & Laura a bit and Melania a LOT) - I never seen attacks on a First Family as bad as with the Trump Family and hope to never see such a thing again.
Each First Lady is different, as we are all different in many ways from each other - ALL of these First Ladies, even the last 4 who have been attacked due to Ideology - put it aside and ended their Service as First Lady of the United States with high approval ratings - and that's exactly what will happen with the current First Lady.
Attacks on the First Family children and wives reflects more poorly on the Attackers than they ever do on the First Family.
Wow, you remember history a lot different than I do. The only first ladies I remember being attacked by the rightwing media were Hillary and Michelle relentlessly. Leftwing media never attacked Laura and are very rarely attacking Melania.
And as far as Melania being a role model and classy, I would never find a gold digger, marriage destroyer, porn star to be classy much less a role model. Sorry but I don't.
Melania Trump sets the perfect example for females.
She's the perfect First Lady for our time, because she can offset the worst females in history - those of the reality tv show starting with K.
Females need a role model to guide them back to the light, and Melania is the one.

Complicit with her husband's need to portray himself as God's gift to women on the Howard Stern Show.

Reportedly, she was once asked if she married Trump for $ to which she replied, would he have married me if I were not beautiful? Sounds like a good match to me.
Agreed. I don't get the pity. She made her choices. She wasn't born into poverty in Slovenia - she threw away a chance at an education to come to the US and live in the fast lane as a model. She dates other wealthy men before Trump - she wasn't looking to marry for love. She chose to pose for nude pictures with other women, which is her right. But it's certainly not something I would admire. And it's not like she was working her way through school or anything. And she went on TV and said that Obama was not born in this country and was an illegitimate president. Then the Obamas had to welcome them into the WH and meet with them and they did so graciously. They are much better people than I.
The other thing I don't get is people making such a big deal about the fact that she loves her son. She's being applauded for this? What a low bar we have set!

Nobody of her background ever did it before her.
She is a victory for the underdog.
And I don't value her looks, because frankly I don't find her attractive.
If her appearance was average, she would not be First Lady.
If she put on the same percentage of weight her husband has, she would not be First Lady.
If she allowed her face to age naturally instead of relying on injectables, she would not be First Lady.
If she spoke her mind, she would not be First Lady.
