Ohio is prohibiting doctors from performing abortions based on a diagnosis of Down syndrome, joining other states with similarly strict legislation.

Republican Gov. John Kasich signed the legislation into law on Friday. Lawmakers had sent the bill to him earlier this month, in one of their last acts of the year.

I'm sure the state will also provide financial resources to support these families as these babies turn 30, 40, 50 and their parents die off, right?

Why are unborn babies with Down syndrome judged more worthy of saving than normal babies? Sounds like a matter of life and death discrimination. Such a law should be declared unconstitutional.

One of the stupidest things I've heard of in a long time. Who is the government to decide what parents should be forced to raise a child with a severe genetic abnormality? I respect those parents that choose to do so, but to force people to do so that are not prepared to is stupid, wrong and immoral. If the GOP pushes this crap, I may even vote for Dims.

It's so backward, as another poster alluded to. Normal, healthy fetus: abort away. One with Downe: must have it.

Government should have to pay for the baby's needs for life then.

A lot of politicians are corrupt, but Kasich's biggest problem is a lack of intelligence.

I guess this is where the liberals' love affair with Kasich ends.
