I received two work emails today, one from my CEO announcing a new annual bonus program and another from payroll explaining withholding plans for the new tax reform bill. Both of are going to make a significant difference in my income.

Thank you President Trump for your pro-business policies. This is shaping up to be a great year for millions of working middle-class families. I predict 2018 is the year we begin to see real wage increases.

Happy New Years

Define significant.

How much extra is you bonus , percentage wise? Is it tied to corporate earnings or departmental goals?

How much extra do you bring home each pay period, percentage wise?

Did you lose out on itemizing because the personal exemptions were removed and it's now better for you to take the standard deduction because of losing the personal exemptions? Is the new stanard deduction lower or higher than what you typically itemized before 2018?

Attacks or valid arguments? Next time you might want to wait a bit before you attack the leftists because that is exactly what your post did.

Cool. I have received a profit sharing bonus equal to 20% of my salary for years.

Take that bonus and enjoy yourself. You earned it, no matter what the Trump haters say. If it was up to Bernie and his supporters you'd have to pay the IRS at least half of it. Thank God for President Trump.

Doesn't sound like OP got a bonus. A new bonus plan was announced. Lots of companies have bonus plans that are tied to earnings or goals. Some companies pay a lower salary and the bonus is supposed to make up the difference and bring the salary to market rate. But a bonus isn't guaranteed and companies usually can remove them at any time.

Well done indeed! I also hope that 2018 is great for the middle class.

Say, do you recall when you wrote this back in April 2016?

"By the time Obama leaves office he will have more than doubled the US national debt. It was 10.6 trillion when he took office in January 2009. We currently sit at 19.2 trillion with a 1.8 trillion dollar budget just passed, bringing it over 21 trillion when he leaves office.

For comparison Bush added nearly 6 trillion. That was a huge story when Bush was president (rightfully so) but Obama is somehow praised for "reducing the deficit" which is a total joke.

Why is the deficit not talked about in the media anymore?"

To me, such is the fly in the ointment. Why aren't the Tea Party people outraged over the Republicans failure to address the mounting debt? Yes, we will have a very good 2018, but it is beyond that time that some people worry about.

If your prediction is right what we will also see is tremendous inflation. Cost of everything goes up...faster than your wage increase. You'll be WORSE off. Especially with huge TRILLION addition to the debt thanks to this GOP tax plan. You do realize that we pay interest on that debt (much of it foreign governments). When that interest payment goes up, everything else goes down...your standard of living, most notably.

Be careful what you wish for.
